Would this post exist if the Colts make that virtual gimmie for NFL kickers? That win was a gift.

The defense has definitely improved. So props to Tomlin and co for that. That said the unit still shows little to no ability to cover the middle of the filed. This weakness will end our season.

I dont judge coaches on a few games or even 1 season. If we fail to win a playoff game once again then Tomlin is what his record says he is. He should be fired. Obviously he’s not the worst of HC’s but he is by no means a good NFL coach. Our results the last 8-9 seasons prove that. The results vs bad teams overall is horrendous. Maybe Tomlin has finally corrected this bad opponent flaw this season? If it weren’t for the schedule we would be among the worst in the AFC. Right now we have a bad offense , a horrible special team unit, and a good defense.

The team has talent so lets stop pretending we are winning because of amazing coaching . We are 4-4 having played the worst teams the nfl can muster . If we can pull off 6-2 in the 2nd half and make the playoffs, then yes that would he Tomlin’s best coaching of his career. Till then the jury is out.

This is an absurd standard to which you are holding MT. No coach in the NFL, other than maybe Belichick, would be expected to make the playoffs with a backup qb and without the starting running back, after having lost Brown and Bell. You can’t just say”we have the make the playoffs or Tomlin sucks because that ignores the injuries. If this team wins 7 games MT should be heralded as having done his best coaching since 2009.

That should be in green font. Tomlin is a joke. But hey, people will continue to fawn all over him regardless. Make your excuses for him, that's fine. I, however, choose to be a realist.

Yeah if the team wins 9 games and misses the playoffs, let's fire him no Tuitt and no Ben . So we can hire another Adam Gase or Freddie Kitchens .

If we buy into what you are selling, the team should have just tanked the season already, right? I mean, no team should make the playoffs with a backup qb and bla bla bla, right? The season was over week 2. We have no shot. Just give up already and rest the team for next season. Give me a break.

Im not judging him on one season.... like you are. We have had ZERO playoff wins 6 of the last 8 years if we fail to win one again. 2 season in the last 8 with a playoff victory is abysmal. Especially with a HOF QB in all but one of those years....and the best wr and rb in the game if you’re counting .

I think Tomlin is good at some things - he has to be to have won so much. But I suspect it is mostly behind the scenes stuff with players. I think he allows a lot of freedom to his coordinators, to his detriment.

The reason why we are only 4-4. Is because of the schedule you do realize that the Steelers lost to 4 teams with a total of 4 losses beating a 5-2 Indy team and that win in LA suddenly looks pretty good doesn't it.

And lets not forget - that “WIN” vs Cincinati was a gift . They had us beat . The truth of it is we have not won a playoff game in 7 of the last 8 seasons...assuming we dont do it again.

Cowher was 101-1 -1 in games where he had an eleven point lead or more. His one loss was to the Bengals in a game where Kordell threw 3 4th quarter interceptions. The tie was against the Falcons when Tommy Maddox's hail mary at the end of OT was caught by Plaxico on the one yard line but he couldn't get in.

Best season since 2009? Steelers sucked in 2009. Lost most of the games in last half of year and went 9-7, missed playoffs.

Would you really have still said MT was a damn good coach if they lost today? We were winning in the 4th quarter and were getting ready to lose in the typical MT fashion with no 4th qtr defense and then there was the kick. This time they missed. What would you have said if they didn't? Yep, that's what I figured. We won not because we were good, but because they missed a kick. Sacked in the end zone, interceptions, fumbles, sloppy play, penalties, more undisciplined play. But because their 45 year old kicker missed the fg attempt, MT is doing the best coaching of his career. Really?

You can if its deserved. Winning a game because a kicker missed a routine FG doesn't change the other 59 minutes of the game. Please explain what our HC did that changed the outcome of the game. IF anything, out team tried desperately to lose this game. This game had all of the miscue's anyone could imagine and we need the other team to shank a fg to win. Please do not act like we were the better team because of a missed field goal.

The defense put the Colts in a position to win the game with a fg. By the grace of God, they missed.

There was still around 1:30 left. Even if Vinatieri had made the FG.
Sorry, it was 1:14 left. Enough time to get our own FG.

The Colts lost their #1 WR and their starting QB in this game and they easily could have won if their kicker didn't kick the ball on the laces of the football Please top making MT something he isn't . I wish I could see the posts if their kicker made the fg as all of these posts would evaporate about MT's coaching ability.Glad we won but please, we don't have a game changing HC.

They are not a solid defense they are a splash play defense. If they don't get a few sacks or force at least 2 turnovers a game they are in trouble, but for the most part they are doing this with 5 more sacks today and getting 3 turnovers.

I'm not a fan of Tomlin, but you're right. At this point I just wish our DC wasn't trash.
