Imma keep saying, we are in a Mason Rudolph superbowl window, 3 more years on the contract, or 2 after this season.

At this point in the season we need to settle in and hope our team including the coaching staff do the best they can with what they have to work with. I too think Mason takes to long to get rid of the ball but he also needs some kind of O line in front of him.

Rudolph has guys open down field a good bit , he’s too scared to make a mistake I think. He’s def not lost he’s smart and knows the game just needs to cut it loose more

He actually can’t see lost if it’s further than 6 yards away from him to be fair.

Rudolph can throw, but Colts D were expecting run on 2nd down ....results were obvious. Dumpoff to McDonald or Vannet...better play than running Samuels and Edmunds.

And running game was a disaster too today. Pretty much the worst outing since week 1.

Spot on...I can’t believe how MR remains composed as the pocket collapses...on replay closeups his eyes aren’t showing fear but CONCENTRATION. And he DOES sometimes hold onto the ball too long, but he’s also thrown it away instead of trying to force it in there. (BR, anyone?) Don’t get me wrong...I was extremely frustrated by the play calling with just over 3 minutes left, Steelers ball, first down. Colts have one timeout left. One first down should be enough to run out the clock. ONE! Two poorly designed running plays and an incomplete pass only run about one minute off the clock. Colts get ball back and are the beneficiary of a poor call by officials on what was definitely an uncatchable pass. I was all set up for the loss and couldn’t believe the FG miss. But I don’t have the feeling that Steelers deserved to win with the anemic offensive display we saw today. Steeler defense still not stopping the 3rd and long or 4th and short, but they sure are creating turnovers, great to see!! Bottom line is, a win is a win.

MR will be good after he works on moving in the pocket with quicker feet to get better passing lanes and stepping into his throws. Also not holding the ball so long and pull the trigger.

The wideouts have really bailed him out on several occasions by making some great catches. I'm not sure if its a footwork thing or what, but he really needs to improve his accuracy in order to become a good starter.

Ben had hall of fame potential. It’s rare you replace a guy like Ben with a guy like Ben. Rudolph is more of the norm for a young QB making his 5th NFL start.

Nix was wasted today. as the backs seemed to go the other direction. All Edmunds had to do was follow Nix.

Mason is going to have to learn to throw out of the I-formation; which should not be a problem with our quality at TEs.

Can anyone name me a rookie QB ever that did not look scared in the pocket or have happy feet? I can only remember one, Dan Marino.

Now, Mason is not a rookie but since he did not even throw a pass last year, I'll say he is a rookie.

Most of you need to get out more. Watch some more teams besides the Steelers. I have the Sunday Ticket and have since its inception so I get to flip around to all the games. Some of you would stick needles in your eyes if you saw some of the QB play week in and week out especially from the young QB's. No one except a few are actually lighting it up. Watson, Mahomes and Jackson are playing well but we know Jackson's days are numbered if he continues to run like he does right now. Cam has already called but Jackson has not answered yet. He will. Other than that, all the supposed studs coming out over the last few years are lighting it up.

I am not sure what folks want here. They think Mason will just enter into the game and things will remain just like Ben never was hurt. That does not happen often with any team. For sure, Mason is showing the signs that 99% of the rookie QB's show. It is nothing new or unusual. I keep saying he needs time to adjust.

Then we get to the int's and folks get all lathered up and have very short memories. Bradshaw in his MVP year thew over 20 int's I believe. Frankly, I think Mason is doing a pretty good job considering the circumstances he was given.

Now, let's consider ANY other team that lost arguably the best RB, WR and a top 5 QB over the last 2 years. Now, thrust a rookie QB into duty on that team. How would the Patriots fare if they lost Gronk, Brady and Edelman from their offense? You think their backup would be 3-1? Take any team in the league and take away their best WR, best RB and starting QB. I'd like to see a list of teams where their backup QB comes in and throws for a 70% completion rate.

Sure, it is dink and dunk mostly with the current offense but Brady and some others have shown this style gets results. Would I like Mason to throw down the field more, sure. I know it will come with time. Remember, the Steelers have very young WR's. The only real experience is with Ju-Ju and that is it. Again, find me a team where the backup looses all those players and has basically only rookies to throw to and ask yourself how well they would be doing.

Even with his mistakes and taking to much time in the pocket, I still think he can deliver over the long haul. People are just so impatient and expect miracles. The Steelers are .500 right now with the best WR, RB and a 2 time SB QB not playing. Gone from the offense. And if it weren't for a bounce here and there, they might have another win at a minimum.

I guess what is amazing to me is some players will get the benefit of the doubt and be given time to develop while others are under the microscope and expected to win a SB the first year they step on the field. Rookies and young players make a lot of mistakes. Ben clearly has made his share over the years with his holding on to the ball or forcing it. Need we be reminded of those 5 int games? And this from a experienced QB no less. To me, Ben has earned my nickname of Jethro. Sure Ben has had many great games and comebacks but he has had more than his share of crappy games too. More than I care to remember.

Time will tell. At this point, no way is Duck any better and frankly he is not as good IMO. Mason may not make the flashy play and may not have it all dialed in just yet, but time will tell though if he has it or he does not. No way though after only 5 games can one say he is a bum. Scared? He does not look scared to me. If he were, I would expect him to be incredibly inaccurate and mistake prone. Right now, his mistakes are pretty typical for a rookie QB.

Nix has always been wasted... All he had to do was follow the pulling guard and not run straight into the pile. I agree on throwing form the I formation but first need to establish the I formation... The rest will follow and the TE's are about as wasted as mix out of any formation to date. Need to get them involved especially in the RZ area!!!

Rudolph did miss on open receivers but he is a rookie and we don’t have anyone great at wr. Ben always had good receivers , but struggled mightily with these same receivers against New England and in a quarter against Seahawks.

True if we can somehow go 9-7 I’ll be happy. Maybe he goes pro bowl level down the stretch

So based on production Mayfield and Darnold are as well? Honestly I have no idea what he will be, the whole O scheme has been limited by stupid play calling, poor O line play, poor RB play, and invisible TE and WR play. Some have suggested they do not trust MR, yet what have they given him to work with? He may very well be a career B/U, or he may a decent game manager. He has started 5 NFL games, cut the kid a little slack and give him room to grow.

Mason was 26 completions of 35 attempts. Not to shabby.

It’s much better than 3 and outs that Ben was doing against New England. Those long drives tires out their defense and our defense gets a rest.

Steeler Nation wants him to move about, be active, extend the play, find the receiver, play! Not just with the arm from the pocket, but with the feet too!
However, today the one time he ran he got targeted on a slide. It's a delicate business at this point.

The kid went 26/35 that is pretty good and you can see the improvement each week. The problem is he only threw for 191 yds, this imo is a game planning/coaching problem. Fitch needs to start getting the ball down the field more, I think it was pretty clear the game plan was to hit Samuels short and quick since he lead the team with 13 targets-catches. Find a way to get the ball to your play makers, man Juju was 3rd on the team today in targets that is not good game planning. jmo

Last week Rudolph had the second most air yards for 450. So it's a little bit of a myth that he doesn't throw down field. It's more likely that the opponents are dictating the outcome. Last week, Miami, this week, Colts who are significantly better. They also held Mahomes and Watson to a TD each. I think people are forgetting the Colts are a good team.

My only beef with Mason this week was he was missing wide open receivers, I counted 3 times that DJ was open, one for an easy TD.

He'll get better scanning the filed with experience.

He’s not a world beater or anything but he doesn’t look terrible lol he’s about as decent as it gets. I’d be happy trying Duck but I have a sneaky feeling he will also be very decent
