The Steelers payed both of these guys big bucks. They have not produced since they got their money.

IN tonight game, Woodley mister no show.

Timmons gets out ran by a 36 year old QB who gets a first down on the play.

    Woodley 0 Scks, no pressure

    Timmons 0 Sacks, no pressre

Man they owe big time! At this point they should give some of that money back.

Timmons is overrated and I've always said that and always will. I like Woodley alot but he's just average without Harrison.

I'm not sure what Woodley does, but I think he just goes home and eats in the offseason. He always seems to come in out of shape and it takes him a few regular season games to get back into gear. He is notorious for slow starts to the season. He usually finishes strong though.

I can't wrap my head around Timmons though. Yeah he had a lot of tackles last year or two, but he hardly ever make big time splash plays. Was he just jogging letting Manning run by him? Not sure where his head is at sometimes. I think Timmons definitely got overpaid.

I actually told my wife when Timmons let Manning run that it looked like Casey Hampton was chasing him! I just sent someone a text and even used the word "jogging" to describe his effort as well. We are just average people seeing this. When Tomlin comes out with a Tomlinism to describe this effort I'm gonna blow a gasket!

Yes, Timmon's effort on that Manning was a pretty sorry effort. I don't know why the coach didn't take him out and ream his ass for that sorry effort. Its unexceptable, especially for a LB who can run. He couldn't be tired because the offense gave the defense plenty of rest during the game. One time during the game, they showed Troy Polamula sitting on the bench relaxing with a smile on his face because the offense was controlling the clock on the field. If he was tired he should have came off of the field and let somebody else play!

I never trusted players out of Florida State anyway. (timmons)
Every year it's the same ole song with him. "This is his year to have a break out season! " "He was out of position last year" ok. enough of that. show me something.

Timmons looked like Casey Hampton in pursuit..

The only excuse I can possible accept for Timmons slowness is he was wearing cement cleats

You can throw Troy's name in there also. Absolutely horrible game. IMO he picked up where he left off from last year. He's guessing wrong more than right when it comes to anticipating where the play is going. Manning made him look like a total fool on that long TD play.

I think without Ryan Clark Troy has a really hard time. Also without Woodley and Harrison generating a pass rush it makes it hard for Troy to have that element of surprise that really makes him so dangerous. It's a lot easier for a qb to survey the field and throw away from him or change up the play when they don't have the "most violent player in the game" breathing down their neck.

I would agree to some extent but even going back to much of last year Troy's big play impact has dropped off significantly.

I would even say that going back to the Super Bowl against Green Bay I can't think of Troy absolutely dominating.

I forgot that this is why I usually avoid this place for a few days after a loss. Going around and trying to put out all the fires is a waste of time.

Yeah, lets look forward to the Jet game: I watched them play the Bills yesterday just to scout them out and they torched the bills defense for 48 points, the bills D looked pretty much like ours did last night they didnt stop the run very well, and their secondary looked like ours, swiss cheesey: The Jet secondary got 3 picks from Fitzpatrick, their two corners Revis and Cromartie are pretty good in coverage and I expect they are going to give Ben fits this week:

The Jets played a lot of wildcat with Tebow and they should scrap that part of their offense because it didnt produce much, but against us it just might work after watching this D last night: The Jet D gave up 195 yards in rushing which i'm sure they will work on stopping the run this week, so that stat doesnt mean we are going to pound the ball for 195, but I have a feeling Haley is going to try to over use the run game and we will be looking at a lot of wasted downs again: In summary if we play like we did last night, the jets will roll over us, and honestly I dont know what kind od steeler team is going to show up in this next game, but it better be a hell of a lot better than they we're last night...

But, at the same time, the purpose of this board is to discuss the game and the players and what went right and what went wrong and we should be able to do that without the "sky is falling" remarks. We should be free to be frustrated without someone suggesting all the players be cut, or, like someone else on this board said, he will just stop watching because the season is over for us

Timmons, Woodley and Harrison all thrive off each other. If the 3 arent there, they just dont get it done. The scarey thing is, I dont see any LB in the pipe line that can step into the spot and fill it.

Yes, Timmons and Woodley are paid and expected to perform better. Woodley usually carries his weight, Timmons has been a consistant disappointment for me. Being out ran by manning is disgraceful and forget those he had a headstart or timmons had a bad angle comments too. Making excuses for their poor play by saying Harrison wasn't there is lame to me. The real issues goes much much deeper-

-Our DL did NOT control their gaps AND apply pressure-
-Without Clark Troy is limited in what he does and this changes how our secondary plays.
-Most everyone here hated Gay but he DID exactly what LeBeau wanted and that was make the tackle limiting yards after catch, Versuses Denver we allowed way too many yds after the catch.
-Farrior is STILL better than Foote in running the defense AND defending against the run, foote has never been a great run defender and without Farrior and Stevenson not stepping up we have issues.

    Cajun-

May be but Foote was the only guy on the defense last night that looked like he knew what the hell he was supposed to be doing out there.

Woodley seems to get his sacks in bunches he started slow last season then got alot of sacks but he got hurt, I always thought Timmons was overrated all that speed and athleticism he doesn't make alot of splash plays.

I'm dissapointed in both of Timmons and Woodley. I still say Woodley does less. Yes he gets sacks, but he often gets him by taking on a RB or a weak sister OL. Also all Woodley is a complete one trick pony. He can rush the QB and that is it - not a complete LB at all where as if you look at Harrison, he stops the run, seals the edge, and rushes the QB.

Timmons has been very quiet lately, I never got too upset about him for splash plays because he gave us a LB who could provide pass coverage and was a sure tackler, but lately he doesn't seem to pursue to the ball the way he did early in his career.

By the way - personally I think LeBeau's over blitzing from the edge is getting old....just as w/Brady, doesn't it make more sense to blitz up the middle rather than let Manning make adjustments once he sees where the pressure is? The goal should be to make Manning move.

Would anybody have any statistics for sacks against play off caliber teams for these two guys?

Ok, if you feel that way, maybe they should cut some people especially since a lot of people are not getting the job done. Woodley and Timmons are not producing for the money that they have been payed. The O-line sucks and the D-line is not much better. Our D-backs can't cover and the defense as a whole looks terrible. So what, are we suppose to be impressed. I don't think so!!

And most importantly, what you must understand is that, this is what this board is for, to express our opinions, thoughts, and frustrations which is our right weather you like it or not. One thing I do realize is that everyone has their right to say what they want to say weather you or I agree or disagree with them, and thats what I do is agree or disagree with them and voice my opinion.

Another thing you also need to realize is that after a loss, it is the hottest time that people will voice their opinions about their displeasure with the team. Its not a place for the soft hearted!

Ok, sense you fell that way, I got the same message for you:

Perhaps you are satisfied with their performance in the game and you have no complaints. Perhaps you are satisfied with mediocrity and incompetence which is totally unexceptable by the fan base. We deserve better, and if we don't get it, we have the right to express our feelings and concerns.

If you feel that way, understand this, Woodley and Timmons are not producing for the money that they have been payed. The O-line sucks and the D-line is not much better.
