After tonight, Dwyer should be the starter. He came in and did work. He has proven himself in the pre-season, and continued in the game tonight. Show me by example. As far as I am concerned, he is the man.

While I generally disagree with most of the rubbish that comes from you...this I will agree with you on...as of now. While I'm not knocking Redman...Dwyer has just been better in the preseason (though Redman didnt play as much since he was the "starter" then) and in this game. Until Mendy is back to normal I'd rather see Dwyer start and Redman keep his #2 role and come in when needed. Obviously this can change week to week...but up until this point I think this is the right move...the kid has earned it.

I agree. Dwyer looks to be the more physical, punishing back that can wear down defenses. As much as I like Redmond, I just didn't see that with him tonight.

I'm forced to agree, too. Dwyer was the feature back tonight. He earned the spot. I have to believe Redman is still not 100%. Whoever the back was, our run blocking was sub-par.

Dwyer should absolutely be the starter he has the speed redman doesnt have. Hurt or not red played horrible and soft tonight.

GP, so you think rubbish comes out of my mouth! Well I just speak what I think and I have that right weather you agree with me or not! I'll remember what you said so that I can tell you if I think it is rubbish that comes out of your mouth.

However, as far as Dwyer is concerned, he has just proven himself. I agree that Redman should be #2.

Know this, PWP is not going to agree with this.

Dwyer appears to be a better RB then Redman. He's seems faster, has quicker feet, and seems a bit more "shifty" then Redman. I don't think Dwyer will hold up if he continues to deal out punishment to defenders. Looking to deal out punishment for a RB is a quick way to shorten one's career.

While i do agree 100% with you regarding Dwyer in this game... i will hold my final assumptions until after ia couple more games. With the way the holes were plugged up it would pretty hard for any back to gain any momentum going up the middle when our oline keep getting over powered by small Defensive players and being pushed back disrupting plays.

I don't think Redman is 100% right now. He didn't seem like it in the game. Dwyer does seem like he is the better back right now but we need some speed to get to the edges.

Can't we disagree without being disagreeable? Oh wait...we all agree with Edog's original post. Let me re-phrase...can't we all agree without being agreeable?

I agree. Dwyer was running hard. Redman was the worst I have ever seen him, even though sometimes the blocking on his run plays was not great. Dwyer had a motor last night. I feel bad that his knee was down, I think that was his 1st NFL touchdown, but it got reversed.

He had a TD last year

I agree though, Dwyer is twice the RB that Redman is and he always will be. Dwyer isn't the answer though. I thought he might be the Steelers RB of the future, but I just don't see it. I think Mendenhall will be back next year because we can't have Dwyer and Redman as the guys. They are slow, they have no lateral quickness and there's no explosiveness from either. The game has changed, these big, plodding RB's aren't effective anymore. Look around the league, RB's are getting smaller and faster every year. Look what CJ Spiller did to the Jets yesterday, look what Reggie Bush did to a very good Houston defence. We need speed and explosiveness, Dwyer and Redman have very little of either.

it doesnt matter if Franco Harris was starting. if the oline cant get off the line and keep from getting pushed back, no running back is going to have success.

they drafted Decastro and Adams to help, but one is hurt and the other just isnt ready yet. as a whole the oline is below average. Pouncey is good, but without other solid olineman around him it brings his game down also.

until they get the oline straightened out this will be a theme around here. yes Dwyer had the better game, but Redman alos runs with power. i would say he isnt at 100% right now. Dwey gives them the best chance in the running game. Rainey is way to small to have much success behind that line. he will suffer like FWP did. if he is getting hit in the backfield he has zero chance.

What I can't understand is how they never use a lead blocker to help spring the running back - whoever it might be. We have a legitimate FB now in W Johnson at least according to the pre-season talk. Was he ever used as a lead blocker for either Redman or Dwyer? I don't think he was, at least on the 2 goal-line opportunities that we had. I think he may have caught 1 pass & had 1 carry; although, I could be wrong. Can someone set me straight on this? Seems like they don't want to commit to the short running game even on 1st & goal from the 2.

You know.. you almost have to go back to the 2005 AFC playoff series...Bengals, Colts, Broncos to see a Steelers team that absolutely dominated anyone.

People, we could have the Sweetness himself back there and its not going
to matter when your OL stinks. until they get better and and start gelling (by playing together)
it is going to be Fugly. I said when DD went down that, we just got a whole lot worse,
and it will continue to show against PLAYOFF caliber teams that can generate a pass rush.
With him and Pouncey atleast we had a chance at somewhat respectability, not now, not for a few
more weeks at the very mininum. If we can get to the bye at 2 and 1. I think you will start seeing some OL
production until then. GET RID OF IT QUICK BEN.

It doesnt matter if your a Steelers fan, Browns fan or whatever...I'm still going to give an honest opinion of what someone has said...be it good or bad. Just because someone likes the same thing I do doesnt mean I'm going to agree with everything they say and be all warm and fuzzy with them even if they do/say something completely stupid/etc. I'm not going to sit here and be "fake" or whatever and lie to people. Don't like it? Then don't read my posts when I reply to someone or say something negative about someone/something.

I agree Dwyer should be the starter at this time....He gives us the best chance to break bigger plays in our current situation..To further add to this Redman is not Redman at this time,he can't push the pile the way he normally does...Dwyers vision is more valuable at this point and time....I am not saying I have gave up on Red or I don't believe in him it's just a Team sport and as of right now it seems that Dwyer is the best option overall...

If Redman can get healty and the OL can make some room in the A gaps,I still feel Redman is the best runner on the Team ,but without any room and him being hurt it is time to consider what is best for the Team and let Dwyer be the feature RB...

By the way I still think Redman is a top 10 RB and could do very well as a feature runner..He has showed us that IMO,,,it''s just like I stated above he simply is not even close to that right now because of his Health, the OL,and what his true strengths are..

In his defense I will say the slow delay stuff is really not his Bread and Butter,,,I think he runs a lot better getting his speed up,,,,maybe Haley will call some different stough for him next game? Anyway no excuses he didn't produce as well as Dwyer under the same circumstances...

Is the same reason I called for Red over Mendenhall ,,because Redman was more productive for the most part..Anyway so Dwyer has earned the feature role and Haley should do the right thing...
