I expect to see him win 2 super bowls in one season while injuring Tom Brady & Bill Belichick in one fell swoop

I do miss him for sure but I don't think he will ever take another snap in the NFL.

Impossible to say. Even if his injury fully heals he is still an old QB with his best days well and truly behind him. It’s asking a lot to expect him to be a top 5-10 QB when he returns

I agree. Once your elbow on your throwing arm goes, does it ever really come back? I fear it will never be normal now.

Do we really still even know the extent of his injury? I read and heard it wasn’t Tommy John and I do recall hearing something about having to move a tendon or something out of the way, which sounds a bit less worrisome. It’s speculation at this point on what kind of recovery he could make.

I don't think Ben is coming back. Just a feeling but I think he retires.

Let me qualify my other post, I believe Ben will make an attempt to come
back and play. I just feel that father time will have caught
up to him and his skills will have eroded.

I could certainly see that playing out too. Will his heart be in it and will his body allow him to come back are two big questions.

I wonder if he hadn’t signed that extension earlier this year would they be bringing him back for 2020 given his injury?

It would cost $25m to cut / retire him but they could spread it over two seasons depending on when he leaves. Hopefully he comes back and can still play at a high level.

He'll be back and do well if OL cooperates. Plus, we'll have one hell of a back up QB if something goes awry. But for right now, Reindeer is the guy and needs all the support that can be mustered both in and out of the stadium.

Terry Bradshaw had this injury to his elbow, after having surgery he reinjured his elbow and never recovered:

Bradshaw, who underwent surgery last spring for torn muscles and tendons in his passing elbow, appeared in only one game for the Steelers during the season, their only victory in their last six games. In that 34-7 triumph over the Jets at Shea Stadium, he aggravated his elbow injury while throwing two touchdown passes in the first half.

I agree, I think he will come back better than 80% of the QB's in the league.

I'm amazed at how many people think elite QB's grow on trees:smiley1: Ben led the league in passing yards last year and people want to ****-can him in lieu of a "chance" someone behind hi might be good?

Do we remember Bubby, Neil, Tommy, Kordell?

Problem with your logic is... Ben is not an elite QB anymore. Not even close.

I didn't hint that he was, just that people want to gamble that we have one waiting in the wings.

Elite QBs can carry the team on their back to victory. Yes, Roethlisberger was able to do that years ago.... but NOW he can't take over a game like Rodgers, Brees, Mahomes, Wilson and Brady.

IMO, we haven't seen elite Ben since 2014 during that 2 game, 12TD stretch vs. Colts and Ravens. Since then, he's pretty much been up and down, like the stock market... sharp some games, erratic other games.

But again, he is still better than 80% of the QB's in the league and that is not easy to replace.

He can, just not consistently and a lot of the time he's digging out of a hole he created. That was with AB on the field to help bail him out, btw.

Being an engineer, I wondered about my 80% statement so I looked at the QB's I believe to be better than Ben and there are only 6; Brady, Brees, Rogers, Watson, Wilson, and Mahomes. That puts Ben in the top 81.25%:smiley1:

His wife should at least make him trim it, he looked like he came out of a three week hibernation.

The Patriots have the top-ranked defense in the NFL in every category and the Steelers were in the first game of adjusting to life without Antonio Brown. In addition to being too small of a sample size, it's not a fair one, especially with a quarterback who has a history of big seasons even after slow starts.
