I was bashing Tomlin early on, but I have given up on that. He isn't going anywhere this year, so I decided I would wait until the end of the season to pass judgment. This has seemed to quell the ulcers somewhat. If the team decides to go on a tear the rest of the way, I might actually survive the season. My wife is updating the insurance policy just in case.

Mike Tomlin is Tina = There is no alternative.

I would like better, but who is available even if ownership was ready and willing to make a move?

So I guess we should be satisfied with who we got for now.

I was being a bit facetious, but for sure some people would. “We only won because of the QB” “our schedule made us look better than we are” etc etc

Hey Cajun. You get it my friend. It takes a special inner-desire to want to lead. Others are content to follow. Both are OK. One must just realize that leaders are out there, opened for critique (good and bad). Some of my leadership experiences include being a Head Coach, a School Department Head, and an organizer of numerous Mentoring Programs for young folks to name just a few.

When you are willing to stamp down your trademark on something that you are passionate about, and truly believe in, then you must also be willing to accept the feedback good or bad, real or fake, that go along with the position. Leading is not for all. and as I stated, that is OK. Just a simple rule of thumb before shooting off with the criticism…. place yourself in that "Captain's" shoes and analyze with an open mind. The best leaders know how to follow. They also know how to delegate responsibilities.

Wait, because the team hasn't given up that means they care about Tomlin? Huh? How are the two even related?

    Simple.

Ask the Atlanta Falcons. That team is still loaded with talent to compete in the NFC. The players have simply quit on Dan Quinn.

You don't have to "care" about the coach to play for him or quit on him. I didn't "care" if my players "cared" about me. Respect? Absolutely. Care? Not important. At the professional level, it is business. Ask a professional head coach, in any sport, if his/her athletes should care about him/her and you'll get a look of bewilderment at the very least.

    You are missing the point.

Players are already playing because it is something they love to do. That however, is not the point of emphasis here. Those very same players need to not just play for something but for someone who can motivate them to push themselves to greater heights.

Different ways of motivation. Not one form of it the same. The Steelers simply are not going to concede for their mere pride. The Steelers are not going to concede because the man they follow in Mike Tomlin has not conceded either.

That is reason of my earlier post. Dan Quinn has conceded the season already. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that the players have not either as Quinn is the one who sets the tone as the Head Coach.... or in this case is merely going through the motions.

I don't want my supreme level of disagreement to come across as an attack. Honest. But...

    Are you mental?

Players are playing because it is something they love to do? Not that players don't love the sport, but this is a business more than it ever has been. They are playing for money. They are playing for ego. And it is a nice, romantic notion to say that professional athletes getting paid millions of dollars need a coach to inspire them. But that is simply ludicrous.

With that said, you are entitled to your opinion and I accept that. We're just on very opposite sides of this discussion.

That’s kinda narrow, no one would say that about Brady. We all complain a lot but take a look at the Eagles, people were in love with their coach and now that team has completely collapsed with no end in sight. We’ve been good for a long time and he’s been going against the best QB in history for a long time. I think we need improvements but he has not been that bad compared to lost

Little confused but I'll say the same thing about Billicheck. Take away Brady and let's see how his record looks.

Loved that show. I think my favourite character was "Dauber" played by Bill Fagerbakke

Not a big fan of Tomlin these past few years, I think he let the locker room and team disapline go south in the past couple of years, too much of a players coach. Ben started the season and looked like he was already injured putting us behind even before he was lost for the season.

Now since then I see they have made a few moves I like, Minkah and the new TE Vannett both much needed.
The defense has been inspired and has played fast and looked good in every game except the NE game.

Tomlin might be doing some good things now that his back is against the wall facing a possible losing season.
If they start fast and play inspired ball against Miami I will give him some credit, if they look flat and suck like they do all to often against weaker teams then I hold Tomlin responsible.
