Moncrief?

I think he's a 4/3 DL, plus he's a headcase, no thanks.

 

If, by that, you mean that he has at least 4 drops this season, you would be correct.

 

I think they should send him packing and bring up Tevin Jones if we need a body. Why have a practice squad if we aren't ever gonna use these guys especially when one of our guys(Moncreif) proves he stinks? We lose nothing with Jones over Moncrief at this point from what I have seen of Moncrief. Also we are talking the #4-5 WR for a 3rd round pick, to me that is real easy.

 

Yes why not? Telling you the longer he’s here the better chance we do something really stupid. He should be a month rental at this point ....so what’s the point?

 

Have you checked the FA list lately? Some may be overpriced too or older but what we have fits your narrative. There are some proven guys sitting out there that we could sign with a get discount.

I haven't sensed much excitement regarding Moncrief.

 

People seemed to get excited that he made a nice catch. It was one catch buy a guy who still has as many, if not more, drops than he has receptions so far this year. I know he has four receptions. I'm just not sure if it was just four drops or were there more.

 

I forget how many drops. I forgot he made a catch until someone mentioned it here.

As a WR, it's hard to be productive if your QB is not throwing the ball downfield ....you'd think??

 

With only 1 target, he did the best he could do to contribute ...he caught that 1 ball ...our QB's gotta start throwing the ball downfield

 

The receivers need to start getting open. It's not as if Rudolph and Hodges have been seeing open receivers and refusing to get them the ball.

 

As sad as it is I think you are right, I am still holding out hope they come to their senses.

 

I'll say it, Moncrief may be more valuable to this team than a conditional 3rd round draft pick.

the speculation is that because L.J. Fort was cut by Philadelphia that we will lose the expected compensatory 3rd round pick for free agency, unless we cut Mongrief (or Nelson).

If he plays well in the next couple of weeks and the Steelers are still in the division picture this will be an interesting decision for the team.

I don’t know if all those drops were his injury or if it was a mental thing but I don’t recall him being that bad at his previous teams. It’s not implausible that he catches a few balls and maybe a couple of TD’s before they have to make a decision.

The thing I don’t understand is, his advertised value was being able to stretch the field. But he only seems to run short routes so far.

Maybe we just need to rotate our receivers around more to get guys like Moncrief in the match ups they’re going to win. I’d we do that, I agree that he could be more valuable than a pick.

I don’t think there’s anyone better out there - similar talent maybe, but not better.

 

Moncrief is a servicable #2 when he is healthy with the right QB. (Thinking was Ben's #2 until Washington or Johnson was ready to set in that role) His downside is he can't stay healthy. It seems like he is comfortable riding the bench with minor injuries.

 

Does this change since fort was picked up by Baltimore and playing?

 

He deserved a game ball.
