Guess you wanted to be the first to start a 'fire Haley' thread.

Stop your crying and give him a chance. We were out played and Manning was out thinking our defense which did not show up tonight.

Honestly, I thought the offense wasn't bad. We moved the ball, ran the clock down and scored 19 points on a tough Denver D. We'd have a few more points if Ben is able to float the ball over the defense. First game back, at altitude, with a worse offensive line than they started the game with.

We threw away a lot of points in the first half because we were dead-set on pounding the ball...perhaps trying to wear out the defense?

    It didn't work.

It wasn't the offense, it was the old outdated and outplayed defense. Like I said earlier, it's hard to win if you give up a 36 second TD drive after you had the ball for 9 minutes and only scored a FG.

OK, OK, here is the gist of Haley....

We run the ball in the first half on just about every 1st and 2nd down. Hey, just like the 70's! That's what everyone wants. Steeler football ya know.

Now, we get on the 3 and we have a first down. You know, first and goal. So, what do we do? Haley the mastermind attempts 3 passes. Fooled me and I'm sure it fooled many others, but unfortunately, it didn't fool the Broncos. They must be mind readers.

Haley is a twerp. A guy who was a Steeler ballboy and how nice it is that a homeboy comes home. Excuse me while I puke. His play calling in this game and the entire preseason has been awful. Not bad, but pathetic and the situation in the first half just emphasizes it all the more. Then hold the ball for the entire 3rd quarter except for 30 seconds and we manage 3 points.

Now folks, that IS Steeler football....get used to it.

I saw a lot of audibles by Ben tonight. Some of those play calls could have been on him. That being said, it's the first game with Haley. These things take time to gel.

We sucked on both sides of the ball but the defense sucked more tonight than the offense. So if you're going to blame a coordinator it should be Lebeau.

rutan74, you are funny. That Haley is a twerp thing is hilarious! Hold your horses mam it wil be alright. I know that they sucked on both sides of the ball in the game but, the offense did do some positives things. I think it is better then last year. I like what they are trying to do better they when BA was hear. Ben trys to get ride of the ball quickly most of the time. He didn't do that before Haley, so II think it will prolong his career. Thats why I think it will be alright. They have lots of weapons and Heath Miller should have a great year.

Except for the seven we gave up because we insisted on throwing the same play pass into the end zone three times in a row and had to settle for three. Either way, bad calls all around, in my opinion. One of the things that always annoyed me about Arians was his insistence on doing the same thing that didn't work over and over and over. I was so disappointed to see the same thing in the red zone this year. Lots of time, and I like some of the changes Haley has made, so I'll hold out and wait and see.

If anything we need a new defense coordinator. I love lebeau but his schemes are so tired right now. all we do is the same blitzes from 1995. The cross dog blitz that does nothing but paste Foote and Timmons to lineman. Then we'll send foote from the outside and if he is not block he will get there.

Where is the ingenuity? what happen to the corner slot blitzes and dropping lineman in the zone? What happen to sending two guys from one side and dropping other guys in their area? It would seem like we have better corners than we had back when Dewayne Washington and Chad Scott roaming back there. And who could forget Lee Flowers.

I hope this won't be what this site is about all year long. Wanting to fire a coach after his first game with his new team is idiotic, especially when it was Ben missing the throws. You want to talk about why this offence will never be among the best in the league, look at Ben, he's the one constant and continues to make poor decisions and bad throws.

I may end up just following you around all day and agreeing. The knee jerk, 'blame someone, blame anyone', 'fire someone, fire anyone' threads are getting out of control.

You know, that's one thing I've respected so much about the Steelers over the years. While other teams owners and FOs have had this attitude of firing coaches after a few bad performances without giving them a real chance, the Steelers have been a picture of stability and have understood the need for a coach to build a team. I just wish more of the fan base would have the same attitude.

I agree with this. I actually felt good about the O-line with the exception of Legursky. He was terrible. The left side + Pouncey seems solid. I like what Dwyer did. I liked what all the receivers did, especially Heath and Antonio. I thought if anything, the stuff that could have been better on offense was execution.

Very true. I don't really remember anytime during the game where I was shacking my head at the play calling (offense) as much as at the poor execution.

You really need to get over your hate of Ben, if you want to point a finger point it at the entire defensive unit. Offense wasn't the problem last night. Yes, Ben made a couple bad throws but if you are looking for perfection out of the QB position you are going to be a very unhappy fan for a long time. Rodgers and Brees both lost yesterday too.
