I have been a fervent Mike Tomln supporter for much of the past 4+ seasons, but his act is wearing thin on me.

I am trying NOT to be a knee-jerk "fire the coach" fan because of one loss. This isn't just one loss. This is crap that's been going on for a while. The lack of preparation. The poor o-line play. The inability to adjust. The penalties.

I am just wondering: when does this talk need to start occurring? If at all?

Backup RG and RT......and the team (until the last two series) played winning football....controlled the clock...put points up (need TD's and not FG's)

But bottom line...Peyton is Peyton.....he could have done that all night long.

The Steelers need to make sure he has to come to Pitt in Jan....and not have to go back to Denver.....The Steelers need Ryan Clark back there so Troy can be Troy.

I agree but if Mundy is that bad then why is he still the backup? Our corners stink so Troy can only do so much anyway.

Absolutely right! We were struggling for a number of reasons, and were still in it at the end... well almost

After we make the playoffs again? After he takes this team to another Superbowl? :hmmm:

Look back over some of the games last season...at Indy...at KC...both games vs Cleveland...the playoff loss vs Denver...all of these were pitiful performances against lesser opponents.

The ONLY reason the Steelers made the playoffs last season was that they had a weak schedule.

    Peyton is Peyton?

The guy has a broken neck, hasn't played in over a year and we make him look like the MVP in one game. Give credit where credit is due. The defense was pathetic and the offense comes in a close second.

Of course, Tomlin will throw in one of those whimsical one liners and we will all laugh as we continue to slide further into mediocrity.

Does it seem like to anyone else that it's like this team needs its back against the wall to do anything? This is the 2nd year in a row we started with a loss. This year we will not benefit from a weak schedule. Honestly I think that we are gonna have to go against philosophy and try and build through free agency. We need a corner so bad it aint funny.

Hey, I'm just asking the question. If you don't have doubts about Tomlin, then fine. Explain why. If others don't, I'd like to hear why. As for me? I'm on the fence. I didn't used to be.

I've been a Steelers fan since 1975 and I've seen these types of games many times, during good and bad seasons. For the youngsters, Bradshaw threw quite a few passes like you saw Ben throw at the end of the game. It happens. Losing Farrior, Ward, Smith et al is big because that's a lot of leadership. Give it time. If we're 0-4 in a month then you can maybe write off the season but it's still a bit early for that now.

Yes...Peyton is Peyton....one of the best to ever put on a helmet....and he "DID" have a broken neck....it looks pretty healed up to me.

Joe Montana whipped us wearing his KC helmet too....because Joe is still Joe.

I can accept losses. I have witnessed 100s of them myself. It's HOW this team is losing that is bothering me. But it is just week one. Let's see what happens. But my faith in Tomlin is dwindling.

The main problem I have with Tomlin and always have is that he just uses these lame platitudes and that gets on my nerves. I know we call them Tomlinisms but I'd like to just have some good old fashioned truth be told. Mark my word that after this game he will just say the same old tired stuff about the "standard" and how we have to live up to it. Blah blah blah. I know that's kinda what he has to do and I'm not saying he should call out individuals and cause a media distraction but I would really love for him to come out and say "Man our D sucked and our O has no vocal leadership and someone should speak up!" Would that be too much to ask?

I don't think its the coaches. Any of them.

I think the players aren't playing with the motivation they used to play with.

None of the "Blitzburgh" Mentality in the players, no characters like Joey to fire up the Defense.

No speeches from Ben considering half the group he talks to changes every week due to injuries.

No riling up from MIke that I've seen.

Failure to execute in my opinion seems like it's being stimulated by unmotivated players. With the exception of someone like Dwyer and Heath.

Or I could just be an idiot and miss Bill way too much.

It might not be any of the coaches. But almost all of the other issues you list, here, are usually blamed on the coach.
