Teams like the Eagles and the Ravens have gotten smart, and started relying heavily on analytics to determine when to go on 4th down and when to go for 2, among other things. It has already paid off for the Eagles in a big way, and I think other teams that don't do it are going to be left behind.

The Steelers will be among the dumb teams who get left behind I'm afraid. Steelers value it so little they fired their analytics guy, and from what I can tell, haven't replaced him. No need I guess when you've got Tomlin's gut to go off of. Idiots!

But on the other hand, Belicheck say he relies on analytics less than zero percent of the time. And he is considered a fairly smart guy.

I thought the Steelers just hired a analytics guy, not that long ago.
