James was a free agent who got way too much money from the Lions. Weren’t you complaining about overpaying mediocre veterans on another thread?

 

Jesse doesn't fall under that because he actually played and was solid.

Just read Mack was cut from Saints (later added to PS) after missing most of preseason with "Undisclosed" injury..... so ..he's got THAT going for him..

 

Didn't they draft a TE in the 6th round or something?

 

If he doesn't break when the wind blows that's a plus.

He is a good backup or a below-average starter. He is exactly the type of player you were talking about and he wanted to test free agency. No way the Steelers should have given him $25 million for four years

 

I like both tes we just got. Vannett and mack.

 

THe most important thing Jesse gave them and what needs to be replaced is availability if you can get two guys that can do that I don't care what it costs. Vanimal is a great when he is 100% but that is less than 70% of the time unfortunately. I'd settle for a bunch of college FB's that can power block at the point of attack at this point

 

Jesse James was overpaid big time. No way we could afford that for a back up TE.

Mentioned this guy in the "Cuts" thread since he was a pre-draft visitor. good pick up to add to the mix. I wonder if Grimble is sent packing once Vannett gets up to speed and McDonald heals.

 

Grimble seems to have had some clangers the last 3 weeks. Not of Moncrief proportions, but not great all the same.

I know not to expect too much from a 2nd string, but he’s not repaid the faith the FO had in him thus far.
