Once we’re eliminated from the playoffs I’m all for getting Gilbert some defensive snaps........ hopefully he is a diamond in the rough and becomes a star on defense......

I’d love to see him and Bush Ball out and dominate!!!

We've all addressed speed. Matakevich has none. He is a terrible player on defense. It's bad enough they waste a roster spot on him for special teams, but wasting time watching him stink on defense again accomplishes nothing.

 

He's as fast as vince and he covers wrs.

 

You are right Mac, rotations need to be explored. But, but as I stated before the
season that these light players just don't cut it in the NFL. These are mismatches for NFL
OL and teams will exploit this.

Williams has proven he can be a competent starter. Matakevich has proven he cannot. Stick that in your mic drop

 

I'm tempted to spend hours searching through many Steelers message boards to see if anyone on another board suggested that the answer is Dirty Red.

I'll never understand the mythical status that this special teams journeyman holds on these boards.

 

Is that why he got benched last year? Mine and your interpretation of competent are two different things.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting Red is the Answer. I’m shouting what we’re doing Isn’t working and a change is needed or our season could be over. Unlike certain fans who don’t really watch and understand football Red has in fact proven he’s a solid tackler. He’s proven in college to be a dominant Tackling machine. He knows our defense, has played well when called upon and if used correctly might just help this team.

And!!!, if he does start and proves to be a liability what have we lost???? We already have liabilities playing.

Therein lies the problem. Butler looks at all the different types of chess pieces and sees only checkers. I don't know if Dirty Red or UG3 would make a difference but the seemingly reluctance to try is frustrating.

And on that note, did Ola get any snaps on D in game 3? I've been out of the country and missed games 2 and 3.

All I get from this whole thread is that our coaching and drafting of talent really sucks and that is what needs to be changed. We could have 11 1st rounders on the field on defense and still struggle. But then again, I think we all already know this. Sorry for reminding what is so very obvious.

 

Williams was decent with Shazier, on par with Larry Foote back in the day... I think Willaims can help Bush more than Barron and Matekevich.
