First of all, let's talk about the most obvious good news.

For a rookie thrown into the field before anyone really thought he was ready, Mason Rudolph looked pretty good. He did make a lot of mistakes, which is a thing that rookies do, but he also showed signs that he does have the talent the Steelers are looking for in the future. He's gonna need a bit more time learning on the job before he can really take over games against good teams but he IS talented and he DID keep the Steelers in position to possibly win tonight. A couple more bounces go the other way, who knows?

Also worth bearing in mind -- the other guys were pretty good tonight. The 49ers have been waiting for years to show the league what a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo can do over a full season. And Jimmy G, a protegee of Brady, put a drive together near the end of the game that put them over the top. That sucks but it's what great teams do. At the point you guys are at right now, making it competitive against top contenders is a kind of victory as the team struggles to right the proverbial ship.

At this point developing young Steeler players is a more highly weighted priority than competing for the season. Season's not completely over yet but the best way to win currently involves developing the prospects you have anwyay, especially Rudolph. So not a competitive year, not a tank year. A developmental year. Take what you have and figure out who's still gonna be here the next time you're on top.

If he's as good as I think he is Mason Rudolph learned a lot about how to throw against NFL defenses from that game, and will steadily improve. He did alright out there for a guy relying mostly on raw talent. Especially against a Superbowl contender.

Just saying -- I know things are frustrating right now but it isn't all bad. The #1 most positive development from this year is Mason Rudolph learning on the job how to be the best QB he can be. so far, scoreboard notwithstanding, he's actually off to a decent start.

Really? 5 turnovers = the other guys were pretty good? Give me a break. They couldn't have done more to give the game away, and we still couldn't take it.

In all honesty, our defense played inconsistent today, despite creating 5 turnovers, which we should've capitalized on.

You see, even though we eliminated the so called drama from our team, something ain't right. We actually had success with Bell & Brown, yet they ruined it for everyone. Even though Tomlin has his moments, we were only 1 win away from the SB when we played New England.
Imagine if we beat them & played the Falcons?

IMO, our current situation reminds me of the Penguins. They had a Stanley Cup drought before switching coaches, so maybe a similar fate is upon us?

At least we aren't playing like the Dolphins right now...

Yeah no. He may have been drafted last year but he debuted THIS year so I consider him a rookie.

Even if he isn't technically a rookie to you he's still getting his first ever live-ball experience, so it's kind of a distinction without a difference.
