Well the defense gets tired, because the offense can't sustain drives. The 49ers dominated time of possession, just like the Seahawks did, the defense can't hold these teams down for the whole game.

If they get off the field they can rest. The 9ers defense had to go on the field after 5 temperature weren't to tired.

So many people to blame its getting ridiculous.
    1. Mr Rooney for not seeing this coming or being too stubborn to change.
    2. Colbert for reaching on draft picks with raw skills with the idea they can be coached up, by who?.
    3. Tomlin for not recognizing the defense is a mess and stepping in to take it over that is your specialty isn't it.
    4. Fitchner this offense lacks creativity when I watch a game I can predict run or pass 75% of the time
That ones too easy just guess pass a hundred percent of the time and you will be correct 75%.
    5. Butler just seems lost running DL's schemes whether they work or not.

It might be so bad now that Watt and few other really good young players will waste a few years under this coaching staff and management.

Race has nothing to do with it, get a clue, when the team wins fans like you never start a Tomlin thread. As soon as the team loses bring up the same subject over and over .

The defense was on the field for about 70 plays, because the offense is inept, they get tired in the second half just like in the Seattle game.

Defense was gashed. The failure was on both sides of the ball. The turnovers in that game were just as much about San Frans ineptitude as it was about us "creating" them. Its a good thing we got all those turnovers or we would have been beaten by 20 points. Defense couldnt stop the run, and couldnt defend the middle of the field in the passing game. Im not giving the offense a pass, they stunk too, but this idea that the defense played well is not the same game I watched.

Good defenses don't get tired. (not that you were suggesting this is a good defense)

    I don't.
He had 3 good years in a row.
While 2017 was his best year, it wasn't different enough to "exceed expectations".
(2015: 29/32 FG, 26/27 XP. 2017: 35/38 FG, 37/39 XP. Within statistical uncertainty, those years are similar.)

True but the point was he was getting the blame for losing games and not the same credit for winning them.

The Steelers don't have a deep rotation especially at DL, they only play 5 guys, as opposed to the 49ers who rotate 8 DL.

No Ben, No AB, an No Bell.

you lose your best 3 players on offense..its going to be tough.....oh and did i mention no Ben

This team will only go as far as Ben drags them on his back....This year...was not that far.

Which is why they needed to re-invent the wheel. There is enough collected talent on this team to beat average to good teams on any given Sunday if they prepare to use it. Right now they are being stupid and didn't change a thing from Bell and Brown just plugged in Conner and Juju who are different types of players. Watching McVey last night having bunch formations that were designed to get Kupp open and isolated was just a thing of beauty to watch. Right now the Steelers go ok 3 Wr two of you guys run deep go routes, the slot guy run a shallow drag that gets held up in the 5 yrd chuck zone and Conner run into the flat but only a yard deep. That just doesn't work.

There's hope for the future and then there's just denial. I don't understand how even with a healthy Ben, ownership doesn't see this team is sorely lacking in many areas. It's bizarre that Tomlin can hold a positive regular season record but yet have so many flaws that add up to big problems. It's hard to win a championship yes, but that's why you put forth your best effort and not just say well this is good enough.

I honestly believe that he thinks that each season is a new book that has to be revealed to him through the play the first month or so. It's like there is no building or preparing for things the following year

'Tired defense' is a different way of saying 'bad defense'.

Or if the offense could improve their time of possession, the defense wouldn't be tired or bad .
