The coaching staff is inept.Tomlin with 3 superstars= Playoffs. Tomlin with 1 superstar= non- losing record, no play-offs. Tomlin with no superstars= exposed inept coach.

Naa, I'd rather Mason become a stud and be our next franchise QB than rely on a 38 year old man coming off an elbow injury.

Bens is gone for this season, waste of time talking about him.

I knew people would be jumping off buildings if he didn't light it up his first game.

Ok so lets see 2nd year QB making his first start against a very well put together defense. Not much tape on Mason so any staff worth their salt is going to attempt to rattle him by pressuring him. Then you have Dick Sherman king of I'm going to hold every play because they can't call it 80 times a game. Pretty sure that the Steelers coaching staff planned to just be conservative and didn't re invent the wheel like they needed to. At this point they need to practice power run blocking, get a FB in there and multiple TE sets to enforce the will on defenses. They can't pass to open up the run anymore since the passing game is a revolving circus of movement instead of getting guys settled and learning their route tree

Mason did fine. His coach and running back let him down. Would have been a nice first win for him.

We have replaced everything on the team but one thing Tomlin. Just saying. Cant blame Ben, AB, Bell, BA,TH, JP, DL,MM, etc etc. #1 WR, #1 RB, and hall of fame QB and he did nothing with it.

As far as Mason, when your coaching staff doesnt have enough confidence in you to pass the ball, what does that do? Let the kid play, take the IT, make him pass it again and again and again. Hes a smart kid, he will learn, he will get better.

I like that. Tomlin though is just one of many problems.

As I have said before, I like Mason and I think he has the tools to be a good NFL QB and yes I am a bit biased. In only 6 quarters of playing in the NFL he as managed 4 TD's with 2 INT's so that is not bad. Not sure what Ben did in his first 6 quarters but he had a couple more HOF'ers to work with than Mason does at the moment.

It is tough when after 15 years you have to move on but Ben is probably done and it will take a while to work Mason in and for him to reach his full potential. Change is tough sometimes and no one wants change in almost everything we do in life, but Ben cannot play forever.

Mason is going to screw up and screw up more than a few times. It is going to take some time. It could be a lot worse like the Jets with no QB talent or Miami. The Bills are getting some traction now but their QB had a rough go of it last year. This year he looks better. I could go on but what's the use.

Right now, the Steelers and not a good team. They are not going to get good this year either. They need a better draft next year. They have a bunch of young talent and need to focus on developing them.

Dude, We're done. I've gone camping before and left hot dogs over the fire for 10+ hours. That is this team. Be lucky to see 5 victories with the offense that was on display today. Ironically, The defense was very good. Under Tomlin this team cannot ever play all 3 phases of the game together.

Problem is we currently have no FB and McDonald is as durable as a Happy Meal toy. OL did MR no favors at all.

The kid did a good job the problem is our OC and the Micky mouse play calling and the Oline is horrible right now you need more than 2 seconds to throw the ball

It’s hard to fight your point, I think we should go with someone younger and new. The defensive backs coach at Dallas has done a good job and he’s actually calling the defense. He started as the DB coach at Seattle during the SB years.

I agree I thought that the 49ers would win by 3 TD's or more. Rudolph played better than I thought he would and probably would have had a big road win if Conner wouldn't have fumbled.

You're crazy if you think that.

I think he completed one pass that he threw more than 10 yds which was the JuJu TD. Every other pass he threw downfield was just awful. Mostly he missed high which was exposing the receivers. He also was not very decisive. Hey, I get it, it's tough. At this level the windows these guys have to throw into are really small, but that's what it takes to be a good QB in the league. Not saying he won't improve, but let's not sugarcoat it, except for one throw he was anything but fine. He stunk.

Ya well, that's what usual happens in your first start as an NFL QB.

He threw a TD to DJ as well. Was it a stellar performance? Heck no. Did his supporting cast do him any real favors? Heck no.

That TD was a pass that a NFL QB should make 90+% of the time. DJ was wide open. It was a good pass, but nothing special. The JuJu pass was a great pass. Right on the numbers on the dead run. The rest of his downfield passes were not good.

Dude has 4 TDs in one and half games. That's very good. He'll get the reps with the first team and it will be okay. They hung 26 on Seattle who was giving up 23 per game, and 20 on the Niners who allowed 17 per game.
    It's not trash!

They need to develop chemistry and consistency in putting drives together.

He regressed greatly and that's that. If he was any good he'd be playing... Rather if he wanted to actually play he'd at least be in the league collecting a check. His actions are on him and he was trending downward as a QB rapidly before kneeling and then poo poo'ing offers. Why is is so hard for folks to see that?

Ben knows how to check out of plays, the 49ers were stacking the box because Rudolph wasn't throwing deep in the first half.

Also, how many face-mask high passes did receivers let go,thru their hands? I remember JUJU, Grimble and Washington had theirs, May have been more....

I thought he left Pittsburgh to be closer to his daughter. Isn't that what you were trumpeting when he went to Denver? Get your false narratives straight.

No, but we were talking about passes, not sacks. Move along, apologist....
