If true, who are the teams you could see beating down Mike's door to hire him?

Probably anybody who has an opening.

I'd bet the the Carolina Panthers be a big bet. Only because Rivera has them floundering he could be on the hot seat. Plus their owner was a former Steelers part owner.

New York Gaints, because it's a big market, and Pat Shurmer is coach and he's a pile of poop and a stop gap coach at this point.

Redskins because I think they move on from Gruden.

    Maybe the Broncos.

There would be quite a few teams.

You know who I thought was a great coach but did not seem to get much attention, Tom Coughlin. I think he is too old now, but I think he would have done good for us if he was available and we hired him after Cowher was done.

Interesting. Do you think Tomlin would be able to turn those teams around? I know it's all moot since there's no way Tomlin would ever be fired. He could drop a Cleveland steamer on Art II's desk and Art would thank him for a job well done.

The Rooney family is a loyal bunch.
I can remember fans screaming for Cowher to be fired in 1998,1999 and even 2000, and then again in 2003.
I was way too little bit I'm sure fans were saying Chuck Noll couldn't do it anymore, that the game passed him by, in the mid and late 80's.

They still never budged. Steelers haven't fired a coach since Bill Austin in 1968. Over 50 years ago.

Now Art Rooney II is not Dan, and he isn't his grandfather. So he may be swayed differently. But, I don't expect him too.

The rest of this 2019 season, Tomlin needs to prove that he his a good coach. Taking an 0-2 team who lost the franchise QB to the playoffs would be a good start.

Could he turn other teams around maybe.

If it’s dropped on a desk it’s not a Cleveland Steamer.

I think they are a lot more open to parting ways with him than people think.

Only getting a 1 year extension indicates that, IMO.

Someone please tell me what tomlin has done the last 8 years since cowhers bunch fizzled out in the packer super bowl loss. Tell me how good of a job he did last year. Tell me how losing our last 7 or 8 games played is doing a good job. Tomlin would turn not one team in the nfl around. He’s not gonna turn this team around either. They are so far away from being good. We are looking at 0-3 and looking ahead 1-4 at best after 5 games. Please someone tell me what tomlin has done since cowhers bunch fizzled out? I promise you no team in the nfl is licking their chops to get tomlin.

I think all the fan bases know tomlin is a joke so I'm sure any team that hires him the fan base of that team will be pretty pissed and we'll celebrate in exuberance

True. I could see a team like the bungles taking the bait if he was available.

Dan Bylsma was scooped up immediately after the Pens gave him permission to search for a new job... look how that turned out.. sometimes the players really do carry the coach. once all the great veteran leaders from our mid-2000s teams retired and LeBeau left, i witnessed the most undisciplined Steelers football teams i've ever seen. and it finally blew up with the bell and brown circus last year.

Except he wasn't. Bylsma sat out a whole season before the Buffalo Sabres signed him. Now ultimately it didn't work out but just wanted to point that out.

Look, anytime that has a head coaching opening that isn't from retirement usually has serious issues. They probably have a very consistent history of making bad decisions so I can see how Tomlin could get a job. A good franchise would see through the smoke and mirrors. These are his landing spots: Brown, Jets, Dolphins & probably Redskins.

I think there would be more teams interested than not.

Now, all teams currently have a coach. Let’s say after the season 7 are looking, I would expect at least 4 to have interest. I’m not sure Tomlin would go to all of them. Obviously, it’s all about timing.

Bottom line, if he wants to coach, there will be a job.

We will see his true coaching ability this year. Talent is dwindling and he is at an 0-2 start. He did well in 2012/2013 as those were rebuilding years and we went .500

I don’t think he’s a bad coach. I just think that he’s past his expiration date with the Steelers. There’s no passion and drive. He might regain it with a new team. We see that with many HCs
