I’m excited at the prospects of this being a more balanced team that many of us have been preaching for around here. The kids gonna have his ups and downs but we weren’t going to see the balance this team needed to be successful. With Ben basically only wanting to throw the ball we weren’t going to see that. Getting under center, play action and actual commitment and run the ball mentality is going to help. It will help control the clock and keep our D fresh. Look it might not be candy and nuts right away but I think it’s a necessary transformation for our future success.

My guess is that Rudolf may actually run the plays that are called, rather than choosing his own options, which is what I always thought Ben did.

Benny had one good run in the Seahawks game, now he should start , he saw how slow he looked in the preseason. Samuels is a good receiving threat also.

Hey Snell as a 24 yard per average carry in the NFL now.

Snell breaks a 24 yard run... and then he never returns to the game.

Sure why not? I’m not too worried about preseason. His one good run is reflective of a lot of good college film.

Why do people feel the need to temper expectations so much when they see good football being played.

Last season when Conner started running guys over, getting 20 yard TD runs, picking up blitzes, catching balls out of the backfield, it was he is not as elusive as Bell. He doesn't force teams to account for him. As if they had Bell doing those things for 7 years or more.

Yesterday it was Mason looked good only because the defense wasn't prepared for him. He only had a small part of the playbook so it wasn't a lot of pressure on him. Bull! That was a good defense playing fast yesterday. He laid that flea flicker out there in style. He took snaps under center and sold play action off it. The kid was good and not because they weren't ready for him. If they were shutting Ben down you better believe Mason Rudolph wasn't scaring them.

Now it's Benny Snell had one good run and he looks slow. Who cares it was a good run. They are going to need efforts like that from all 52 guys going forward.

One thing I see in Mason is that he does "play action" much better than Ben.....

I wont go so far as to say Benny Should start but it drives me nuts (in all sports) when a player does something great and you never see them again. It seems to be some sort of trend among coaches. When asked they will simply say something like, we meant to go back to him just never got to it.

Don’t think so. He would have to start frequenting some shady bars first and I don’t see that happening with Mason. :smiley1:
