I think you had it more accurately described in the game thread where he was guarding a fan in the first row

Hopefully the Steelers put him right into the starting FS position and keep him there. Sean Davis blows.

I guess the question will be how high would we have drafted. If we get a 15 range pick I’d say this is a wash if we are picking top 10, not so sure about it.

There is a play in Fitz's highlight video that someone posted where he blows through an attempted pick play and hits the WR at the half yard line and puts him down. That is the type of play Sean Davis need to make on Seattle's TE. True he may not have brought him down but he was wide open and you are defending the endzone where you are looking at the field the whole time. No excuse for not breaking on the ball and hitting that guy so hard his kids feel it.

My first reaction upon hearing the news

Absolutely awesome move. Freaking awesome, tip of the cap to Colbert and company. If I had to watch anymore stupid plays by Sean Davis I don't know what I'd do. Blowing up our own player in the endzone last season to allow a TD, a penalty negating a fumble recovery for a TD yesterday, done!

I see people bemoaning the loss of a first round pick, tough ****. This is a bonafide talent and we have no idea how a draft pick would turn out. Absolutely a home run by the Steelers. Well done guys, well done.

Given the 50/50 nature of the way the last ten drafts have gone more than likely its a miss probably at OLB or TE

Yep. The NFL Draft is a crapshoot anyways. Why even bother if there is LITERALLY someone who can not only help now but also in the future?!?!

Maybe this played a part in making this move or it was just too good to pass up. Either way, definitely needed.

My work schedule has been strenuous and stressful lately. Tomorrow will be one of only 2 days off I'll get for an entire month.

So, as I'd planned, i'm on my deck. A nice whiskey, stout, and Rocky Patel cigar in hand. A much needed moment of relaxation.

But tonight's news has made them all so much more satisfying. Talk about savoring the moment. :)

I’d rather have Minkah Guarding DK Metcalf instead of Edmunds!!!!

That's my first reaction as well.

You have a high chance of giving up a top 10 draft pick for that guy!

I believe we no longer have a 1 and 3. The 3 going to Denver in the Bush trade. I think we still have the 2. I also think the Steelers are hoping to recoup that 3 by getting a compensatory 3 for losing Le'Veon Bell.

Is this the same shoulder that prevented him from playing to his fullest back in his rookie season?! Should that be the case, his market value is likely even lower now heading into Free Agency come 2020. Drew Rosenhaus is running out of options quickly.

Keep in mind that "Mr. Third and Fifth's" punishment has not been decided. Roger Goodell did hear the accuser today. A decision is likely imminent at some point later today.

I tried looking it up but couldn't find it.

when and for who did we last trade our #1 draft pick away?

Let’s be honest it’s not Colbert always does well with first round picks anyways. But alas, I think this is Colbert feeling the pressure. It’s just sad it took all these years to go “you know, maybe this secondary could really use some help.”

Last time was 1967. Actually we traded away our first round pick 6 out of 10 years 1958 1959 1961 1963 1965 and 1967.

High chance?! Interesting. Fair enough, I will play along.

    Should the Steelers have not acquired Minkah, any Free Safeties you see in the upcoming 2020 draft?! Only two of them mind you;

Grant Delpit: He is a multi role weapon who is better suited as a Slot Corner/Strong Safety option. Not a true Free Safety by trade. You can try it as he will be servicable but do so at your own risk as you will limit his capabilities.

Isaiah Simmons: The ultimate hybrid. So long as he is not playing Free Safety in any capacity, use him however you see fit. NEVER use him as a Free Safety.... ever.

Now, if you are talking a pass rusher a la Chase Young, I will agree with you.

Yeah, I was looking more towards a pass rusher either on the d-line or LB position. Possibly even another ILB.

Haven't looked into the prospects at the College level yet though.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if this team makes the playoffs this year, but wouldn't hold out hope of our second year QB getting past the Patriots defense unless the defense and the defensive play calling gets a whole lot better with this addition.

If they fail the rest of the season and end up top 10, I'm a little dismayed. Best case: make that #1 a #32 pick!

    Good timing with the trade!
