For the record I have serious doubts about this trade. Seems like we over paid big time

Why? Probably because I know it annoys you;)

Sean Davis is banged up and he’s not exactly playing very well. Minkah offers versatility but I hope he’s strictly targeted for the FS position. It’s been a weakness for years.....I’m thinking of they limit his responsibilities for now and give him the single high role his athleticism should get him on the field rather quickly.....yes time always tells.

I’m with you, TTF. I’m just now home and hearing about this! Wow! What a great move to address our most glaring need at free safety. Kudos, Colbert!

I remember posting here on draft weekend two years ago that I’d trade the entire draft for Minkah. Can’t believe this is actually happening. He’s an instant upgrade that should improve our defense in both cover 3 and cover 2. Love it!

The play of Davis yesterday coupled with his aggravating of a previous injury and the play of Kelly made it a very present need. The Dolphins were looking to deal a top 10 pick at the safety position and it was a risk/reward type of deal. THey get a very known quantity by giving up am unknown one

Minkah is a exxeptional tackler. Something neither safety has shown.

Minkah is a reliable coverage guy. Something neither safety has shown.

Minkah is a playmaker. Neither safety has shown that consistency.

Minkah is a leader. Something our secondary is severely lacking.

Not gonna lie, I feel better about this move with a healthy Ben. It absolutely is a desperation move now. No more excuses. We ride with Mason to the playoffs and there's going to be some heads roll, especially on defense.

You probably named your cut in Kelly unless Davis is injured badly enough

A mistake they made was giving Ben the money.

It's nice to get the Miami 4th round pick . Should be the top pick in the round or as Colbert calls it, essentially a 3rd round pick.

I never said every player acquisition who falls under that mantra would work out. Nothing is ever full proof. For that matter, everything has shortcomings. Something has to be offset for something else to work. That is how this world operates. Everything is finite. Nothing is infinite.

All I said was that was the initiative the team set out back in 2018. Tomlin and Colbert reiterated this point during their Pre Draft Conference earlier this year. Minkah fits this to the "Tomlin T". The whole meltdown his mother had does not concern me personally. Now, if Minkah were to enact what Jalen Ramsey did to Doug Marrone, I would HATE this move.

Thankfully and, as I said, Minkah was one of the three most safe and surefire players of his class. There were ZERO character issues with him. There are not any right now.

A player who doesn't just want to play but also wants to win?!

The only reason I could see for the extension was if it moved the cap hit and allowed them room to make moves or because they had an exit strategy in mind.

Now play Johnson and Washington, instead of Moncrief and Switzer. It could be a rebuild on the fly.

    Oh well?!

Better for all of us honestly. At the absolute worst, the Dolphins will become relevant again. Even better, they could take on New England should their picks pan out.

This is the first time we traded away our 1st round pick since before the Chuck Knoll era.
