As expected, no more negotiating until next season. I'm just totally baffled by Mike, he's either very dumb or very greedy, he's definitely stubborn. So now he has to play for 2.7 million when he could have been playing for 10 million this year. He's losing 7.3 million by not accepting a deal this season. So even if he gets his 11 million next season, he'll have to play for about 7 seasons just to make up what he lost on this one year. Am I figuring this wrong? This is assuming that he could have gotten 10 million a year by the Steelers but I have to imagine they offered him at least that much.

He's incredibly dumb. Knowing that the Steelers have a policy of not negotiating with players that are holding out, it makes no sense to hold out. He gave himself and his agent a week to try to negotiate a new deal, rather than the full camp and pre-season. He screwed himself and only himself. If he had come in for camp and lit it up in the pre-season and practices, the team would have been more likely to give a bit more than they originally offered.

I imagine Bruce Ariens will highly recommend that the Colts make a push for Wallace next off season.

Could work out for us if he plays with a huge chip on his shoulder trying to prove he deserves elite money.

Hopefully he doesn't play tentative trying not to get hurt... :praying:

If he doesn't play with 100% intensity, then Haley and Tomlin need to sit his ass on the bench and let him know he won't play at all if he doesn't smarten up.

If Wallace was indeed offered 10 million per year, and turned it out down, then yes, he made a very bad mistake. Wallace has to realize he has no leverage at all in this situation.

The sad thing is we could be staring another holdout right in the face next year when we have the right to franchise him.

I don't know what Mike was offered, but you would have to think it was more than the deal Antonio got. He should have taken the deal.

i don't think it's really up to MT and haley to do that. it's their job to put the best team they can on the field to win with. colbert is the guy that needs to deal with this. i think he is ok with what we will pay him this year and next. why wouldn't he be?

It's 100% up to Haley and Tomlin to bench players that aren't giving it their all. Which players are on the field every sunday is not the responsibility of Colbert at all.

If he pulls that **** then yeah, they definitely better, he'd only be hurting the team then. Usually though, a player will give it his all in a contract year, but with Wallace, I really couldn't tell you what he'll do.

I don't think he'd do it intentionally. Don't get me wrong. But you have to know it's a fear for someone who hopes to see a big payday. Who knows what happens in each individual's subconscious? It's also just as likely he plays lights out, maybe more so.

And for the record, whether he stays with us or not, I really hope he stays healthy.

I don't wish injuries on anyone, and I won't in this case, BUT should he tear his ACL in game 1, he will be wishing he signed the extension.

If he plays great this year they can tag him. Then the average over this and next year would still be less than they offered him. He will never make that money up in years 3-5 elsewhere.
If he doesn't play great this year, next year he will get lower offers.
    Either way, he losses money.
    Brilliant.

I don't understand this either, TE, as I'm sure you know. If the number the Steelers was offering was $5 million over 5 years as has been reported, simple math tells you he should have taken the deal. If he's haggling over $1 million over the next 5 years that's $5 million. He's losing, as you pointed out, $7.3 million this year alone. Makes no sense at all.

For Wallace's sake, he'd better have a good season. If he struggles this year and drops a pass here and there, Steelers fans, who have little patience for what they perceive as diva-like behavior, will be on him like white on rice. This may have a psychological impact on him affecting his performance and it's just a snowball effect. Whether he has intended to or not, he has made himself a distraction this year.
