Let it begin. I’d definitely get Snell involved, would not try and make Samuels a lead back, not his roll.

Snell was actually a good pass blocker in college, he could be further along than most first year backs.

Conner will return but worst case scenario, you have two capable backs.

Mason era begins for sure. Ben played his last down, only way he plays again is if Mason bombs. And even if he bombs, at Ben’s age, will he still have the fire in his belly to come back after a season away from football? I known there’s the money but the guy doesn’t need it anymore.

I’m kind of excited actually. Now if only we can get new coaches!

New coaches you say!! I am with you on that. Before Tomlin goes, could we get Butler out first?!?! Terryl Austin is the Seinor Defensive Assistant right?!

Terryl has coached NFL defenses before. Should not be too hard a transition. Tom Bradley moves squarely into coaching the defensive backs.

As I said in another thread, find another defensive backs coach next season to pair with Bradley. Hire a Quarterbacks Coach who is an Offensive Assistant to put some heat on Randy. Most importantly?! Should Pittsburgh have more inexcusable losses this year...

    FIRE!!!

    MIKE!!!

    TOMLIN!!!!

For better or worse, it forces a shake up. The offense looked tired and predictable for 5 quarters.

I’m excited for this. Season starts again next week.

There is no Benny era, if Conner is out then Samuels will get the bulk of the carries.

Looking forward to seeing just what Mason can do. I think the coaching staff would be foolish if they don’t give Benny a shot. New era , here we Steelers here we go.

Wouldn’t surprise me if this coaching staff try’s to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Yes, I think it is time for Benny Snell football. Let him carry it 25-30 times a game and grind out yards that keep the clock moving, help out our young QB and most importantly keep our defense off the field.
I would keep Samuels in his current role of being a 3rd down back and giving him some carries now and then. He is good at that and I wouldn't change it.

Meh. What else are we going to do, cry in our soup?

Mason wasn’t drafted to be a backup, was drafted to replace Ben. Here’s his shot.

The offense is averaging less than 3 yards a carry with Conner running the ball. The O-line is not getting it done in the run game. Giving Snell 25-30 carries will keep the defense on the field, because the offense will not be getting first downs. The key is Rudolph. The Steelers need to play Washington and Johnson with Smith-Schuster, along with Samuels and McDonald. This team will continue to be a pass first offense.

am I the only one who doesn't see Rudolph being successful? He threw for some yards, 113 I think in a half. The team he was throwing against gave up over 400 passing yards last week no? I hope I'm wrong but until I see him beat a quality opponent I'm not impressed. course if stone hands hadn't been in there yet again it might have been different, so there's that. We travel to the west coast this week and that has not been kind to the steelers in the past. I see us being 0-3 at the end of Sunday. hope I'm wrong

Not so sure about that. Ben was the reason for ignoring the run game.

I bet you see a bigger commitment to it now and a more balanced offense.

I was remembering back when Maddox got hurt and Ben took over. The team had a complete change of mind on how to run the offense with a young QB. You're point is well taken though because that was a completely different coaching staff back then.

One problem with being more committed to the run is that right now, they don't even have their fullback.

I'm sure Snell will get more opportunities as long as Conner is out, but Samuels gets the first shot.

It is definitely Rudolph's team, at least for now.
