A good record is moot at this point.

An organization cannot lose generational talents like AB and LB leaving behind a good but aging quarterback... then promote incompetent assistant coaches... and expect to compete.

Keith Butler is a disaster. I have never seen two games with so many players out of position to make a play, particularly in the secondary. If I resurrected Mahatma Ghandi and had him play QB, he would pass for 300 yards and complete 75% of his passes against this secondary.

The other problems on this team are:
    • James Connor (like Samuel's, James should be a backup). JC doesn't have great vision, doesn't have great cutback ability, etc. He has toughness and just enough to get by at RB playing behind a great offensive line.
    • Bud Dupree and Anthony Chickillo. Why the hell are these two substandard players on this team? Dupree should be a backup and Anthony should be unemployed.
    • Damn this team needs a quality FS!
    • The "Steeler Way"... losing generational talent like AB and LB in their primes, is inexcusable. Replacing the DC position with mediocrity is hot garbage considering how bad the defense has been the past 5 years.
    • Mike Tomlin. Mike's teams play down to their competition, general start the season poorly (and when they started strong last year, they collapsed the second half of the season) and always loses to the Patriots (the gold standard in the NFL the past 8 years).
Anyways, getting back to projecting the record... I'd say the Steelers finish 8-8 at best, 7-9 most likely.

My 7-9 prediction may be too generous. We'll see.

I believe only 8% of teams make the playoffs starting 0-2. We have players, they need coached better. Some need to go but most are good enough to build on and win with, if. No prediction from me but I want improvement from our young players.

I hate to do this, but I’m lowering my 11-5 prediction to 10-6. However if Ben misses significant time, all bets are off. I’m thinking 12-4 in that case.

I think I will wait and see what Mason does maybe next week. If that doesn’t happen then we go 9-7.

Is there a safety in the draft next year that could make an impact? Because we need them so bad.

This defense is probably worse than last year and offense is significantly worse.

    Tough schedule too

If it takes a bad record to get these guys canned I’m for it. MT KB will not sniff another SB

Steelers have a good QB for the future. Rudolph is a competent enough QB to win 10+ games year in and year out... with the right coaching staff and support on offense and defense. Start building the team around Rudolph... on December 29th at 4pm.

11% odds to make the playoffs when you start 0-2
3% when you start 0-3, Houston made the playoffs last year after starting 0-3.

If you read the whole sentence, I believe he included a playoff game that would be 16 reg season games plus 1 post season loss, or 6-11, .

Only one is Grant Delpit really. Issue with him is that he is not a true Single High Free Safety. As far as I know, unless a "Darnell Savage Jr." emerges, don't bank on it.

Isaiah Simmons is the ultimate hyrbid but he is better suited towards the LOS. Xaiver Mckinney is a Free Safety but cannot play Single High either. Beyond the aforementioned, no one really.

Initially; I thought we'd go 6-10 and then I changed to 8-8 because I was thinking I was being overly pessimistic about another Tomlin popcorn season and we were 3-0 preseason. I would say at this point that 6-10 was something I should have stuck with and am going with it again. Ben being gone could make this go either way. I remember him taking over for Tommy Turnover who also went out with an elbow problem and maybe the same things happen again. Yes, this is very optimistic thinking on my part.

Got a hunch you and I will be battling it out in the Prediction Poll. I'm on fire at the moment. I have a great shot at winning the Pirate Prediction Poll on that message board.

I'm excited about Mason. With or without Ben we are not going to be great so I say this with respect for all Ben has done for our boys, hope you are out for awhile Ben so Mason can get some games under his belt.

Agree.... the offense is not as bad as people are saying it is. Rudolph is more consistent at this point. Might as well go with the hot hand like we did in '04. It worked out well then.

8-8. Just good enough to keep the "never had a losing season" thing going.

5-11, unless we can play the dolphins 4-5 times. Funny, but not funny. Really can we get lined up with Miami.......

Would like to see Mason pull a Ben out of his hat and go 14-0 in his first NFL game starts even though I predicted 7-9.
