I don't want this to be a "Should we or should we not sign Wallace long term." I understand we are pretty divided on this topic. However, personally, I think we are better with him than without him. Therefore...

I was wondering since Wallace came to camp, have there been any reports about the Steelers meeting with Wallace's agent to work out a long term deal? I know that the Steelers do not negotiate through the media, but I am still curious.

I really believed that a deal would be done with the two parties by today, but I have heard no reports that any discussions have gone on.

    Anything???

I read an article the other day stating that they were in talks again; however, a couple days ago Bouchette tweeted "Wallace talks going nowhere. Jerome Bettis says he has concerns about him, and about the Steelers".

I guarantee that Bettis and Bouchette have far more insight than anyone on this board.

Nope he's still an A-Hole for dragging this on for only a few mil that he'll probably be spending on Booze, and hookers anyway.

i cant believe anyone would pay for his PG+ chat? i mean all he does is insult the people asking questions and as you said hes so sarcastic to people paying him money... and then he talks for 3 minutes then says thats all i got time for today... wtf? what else does that a hole have to do? i cant believe people pay ot be insulted for 3 minutes a week.. and i still think bettis knows no more at this point about the steelers than we do... he pissed a lot of steeleres off after he retired and went into broadcasting and he has a record of gloom and doom for the steelers so thats nothign new if he said they wil have an off year.. not impressed with bettis

Technically speaking, you pay them to leave. ;)

My hunch is he'll be signed soon. And all of the doom and gloom will look silly in retrospect. But I've been wrong before. If Ike walks at the end of the year, it's not the end of the world. We've lost players before and kept on trucking.

I don't think that anyone outside the Steelers FO and Wallace/agent know what's going on with Wallace and that's just how the Steelers like it. Think about it - were there previous reports that the Steelers were in negotiations with Antonio Brown? I didn't see any and then BOOM - he was signed. If the Steelers stay true to form, they have about 30 hours to get him inked, or they'll let him play out the season for his tender.

I really like it that the media and fans are kept away from the sausage-making process of contract talks. The only time we even know there is anything going on is when a player holds out - or if a disgruntled player decides to take his dispute public - e.g. Faneka. This team has been THE dominant team in the NFL for the last 40+ years for a reason - and I think keeping football on the field and contracts behind closed doors is part of that success. I hope they sign Wallace today or tomorrow - but if they don't - I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing. It has worked for nearly all of my lifetime. I don't think they'll change for someone like Wallace.

yeah I know. weird. Why would anyone pay to get kicked in the sack .. ?

As for Bettis.. I think sometimes announcers such as Bettis try not to give to much love and obvious homerisim toward their team.. Maybe the exception is coaches like Cowher who seems to give love to the Steelers week in and week out lol

Its usually Steeler policy NOT TO negotiate once the season starts
so I would say if ole Mike and his agent want to get anything
done before the season they better hurry up.Like about 36 HRS

I don't think 5 minutes will go by without it being shouted from the rooftops in Pittsburgh if they agree to a contract extension. Have you seen any news articles? Then he hasn't signed yet. If it doesn't happen today, it probably isn't going to happen at all. No way we will match offers he would get as an UFA

The Team is off to Denver, which essentially is the begining of the season. No deal for Mike.

I say we see how he does this year and if he has a monster year, franchise him. If not, we'll take the draft pick and not look back when he signs with someone else.

O.K. So - we have the fastest WR in the league who is VERY motivated to have a good year and earn a big contract. It's a cannot lose situation.

Best reply of the whole thread! The Steelers are a grade A team and will do what is best for the whole team, if that means we sign him at the end of the season--- Great, or if we let him go they will have their reasons we may never know and I will be fine with that also.
