i know this is NOT steelers Fb.. and i know towel will probably remove this as hes a great guy .. but... i ask all of you to hit that DONATE button at the top of the screen tomorrow .... opening day... so i ask you this.. please donate to keep this board going.... i tried for 2 years to get into that crappy other board that went bye bye... they never even replied.. took me 5 minutes to set up an account here.. all of you that have asked towel questions.. all of us ,,,including me.. that have asked for a game link.. towel is always there for us within minutes.. not hours.. not a week.. not 2 years like the old steelers boards.. so i ask you to donate.. not only to keep the board alive but to show towel how much we appreciate them.. do it now.. before you forget... or do it tomorrow as i shall do to commemorate the opening of steeelrs football (the only FB there is) ... but keep this in mind.. when we kick off the opening kick off.. think of this board and make sure you have done it by then... remember it aint free to run this thing.... make a game oot of it .. commit to donate a dollar a point for each point the steelers score... or a dollar for how many catches AB has .. or how many runs redman has.. or whatever but lets all keep this board alive !!!

I can't give much, but I agree that this board has become a tremendous success and all of us have enjoyed it for free. I like the idea of a symbolic donation on opening day. When I have more to spare, I'll surely help to support it even more.

TTF - keep this on the Steelers page! I promise - I won't bring up toasters (shudder)!

 

Agreed, T_E - look at the top of the page. This is a page FOR fans BY fans. It seems like it has been a page FOR fans by FAN. Let's really live up to the title of the page. I'm sure even a couple of dollars help.

i really dont think that towel should tell us how much is raised..(im sure it wont be a lot anyway) .. as long as its not so much he retires to jamacia and leaves us without a board... haha.. but i think each donation should be private and the total should be kept private... but thats just my opinion... to me theres no reason EVERYONE of us cant send something.. sure people are broke.. but they have a computer? they have the internet? they got a tv to see the game.... probably drink a beer and eat some chips while watching it too.. so to me even if its a FG worht $3.... its the point you send SOMETHING.. ANYTHING .. so show how much we care... i cant speak for towel but if it were me running it .. i would appreciate 100 people sending $5 each than only 5 people sending $200 each... just knowing that many people appreciate what i did would be cool and folks this is the chance.. as i said i have seen hundreds of people say .. send me a link for the game.. well now its time for you to send towel a few bucks..

O.K. I agree - don't publish the total $$ - but it would be nice to know how many people stepped up. No names or anything - just the number of donors would be nice.

I totally agree Hines.. Just coming here and discussing our beloved Steelers is worth a few bucks here and there. I mean what else is out there and run so efficiently. TTF and moderators do an amazing job and having worked on forums as a moderator I know how difficult and sometimes thankless this job can be , and yes I consider it a job as I am sure TTF and the others would agree.

It's a great place to hang out and its policed well enough that people do not have to worry about feeling bad because they voiced their opinion. This speaks volumes about the team and their ability to squash arguments and tempers that flare from time to time.


I wont be donating tomorrow as I did already for the first time this week. What a coincidence this conversation came up the very same week I made a donation. TTF told me at that time that he would not post the donation nor pander for other donations. I totally respect that because I get the same feeling of ickiness with stuff related to money.

I really do hope that people keep donating and there is no need to know how much or how often imho so long as it continues to support the board and TTF obvious coke habit . Coca cola of course

All I wanted to say before I was so rudely interrupted by TTF locking me out was this... How many other teams in the league have fans that are so passionate that they get on a message board EVERY DAY and even in the OFFSEASON to talk about their team? How many other sites are there where football fans look forward to getting home just so they can see what all their friends and fellow fans are thinking about their team that day? I would say that maybe the only fans that come close to even coming close would be the Packers or MAYBE the cowgirls. There is just something about being a Steelers fan that defies explanation. I mean there are many of us with over 500 posts and some with even over 2000! That's insane! Most people I know who like other teams in my eyes only qualify as "fans". But Steelers are true FANS ALL THE TIME. So even if you can't give you CAN atleast send a nice message or something to TTF and thank him for enabling your addiction to be fed.
