Ben & DaBeard are no brainers. I wonder why no ST though? Tomlin sending a message that the entire unit must pick it up and that noone is currently worthy?

Yep, great choices! Its more than obvious that both deserved to be named as captains. My man Brett is going to have another steller pro bowl year.

I like it. Ben needs to shoulder that load. My next 2 choices on o would've been Heeeeeeeeeath or AB. I'm glad to see DaBeard getting it on D. My next 2 there would've been Troy or Lamarr.

what i really want to know is now that casey is a backup, does he have to play special teams? maybe tryout for the gunner. we're gonna need some more hang time on those punts. :lolol:

Good choices. There may be better players, but I think those are great choices for captains.

I actually like the idea of not selecting a special teams captain. Whether or not the intent was to send a message that they all need to step up, that's the message I got. Unless they just aren't announcing that until tomorrow... Mundy would probably be the best bet, as an experienced and underrated ST player, but even he's not without his sub-captain moments. He roughed a punter and cost us 7 points last year, and held on Chris Rainey's 2nd PR last week. Maybe that's nitpicking though. Curtis Brown was great as a rookie, but he's so new and green. Neither kicker is an option. Rainey's never played a snap. Why do we need a ST captain anyway? If they don't respond to having no captain (if that's the plan) you can always pick one later. Or maybe that's the plan. Tell them you'll pick one 6 weeks in and make 'em fight it out.

:lolol: I was going to try to think of a funnier one for him, but no, that's the funniest. I wonder if the return team would even put a guy on him.

It does make me wonder if he'll be a backup though. He started against Carolina. I'm sure that no matter who is #1, he and Steve will share reps far more than a #1 and #2 historically have in our defense. But I still don't know who will be the #1 in the opener, nor do I know who will be #1 week 5, and if it will be the same guy or not.

Hrapmann was going to be ST's captain but Suisham started doing Tomlin's laundry so he got cut (A week too early) instead.

seriously though, yea i'm leaning towards casey starting. i haven't heard of him having swelling on his knee after last week,so he may be good to go. guys don't lose their jobs because of injury here. i expect mclendon may get alot more plays during the game though. at least against peyton anyway.

Good stuff a perfect fit for each unit...
As far as the play of Mclendon and Snack I can't see them not getting on the field together sometime....I would like to see a 5 man front esp. if Hasrrison and Worilds are not ready....Heyward,and Hood on the outside with Snack,Mclendon and Kiesel inside, float Woodley around like the Ravens do Suggs....

I think this would be a nice package to run from time to time,,IMO in such a package you could run a 5-1-4 monster as we call it...Timmons at LB and of course Woodley the monster....It is a great keep the play in front Defense and it really allows you to beat up OL......Stunts a plenty lol...

With that invincible package, it wouldn't be fair to play with 11...

Well they'll just call it the Wide 10, instead of the monster.

No problem ,but that's the way it is called a lot of places....5 OL 1 LB 4 DB'S and a Monster man makes 11....The monster has free range and can play LB,OL,Double a TE,or Double a WR.....Of course he can blitz from any spot on the field and I think Woodley would make a Great Monster....I played Monster for 2 years and I loved it....

So in essence the Monster is a OL against a run set,or a LB,he is the press coverage guy and has the short Hook zone on 4 or more Wide Outs....

There is an article on nfl.com that I just read about team captains. On the side of the page they list in a text box the captains for the 2012 season. I didnt want to post a new topic, but I had to laugh at our team captains they have listed. They have our captains as last years. It lists Hines Ward and Ben as offensive, James Farrior as Defensive, and Arnaz Battle as special teams. I thought maybe I was mistaken and they listed last years and I read it wrong, but I didnt. It lists Peyton Manning in Denver and so on.

I just laugh because how can whoever writes for the nfl and its website not possibly know that Hines and Farrior retired and that 3 of the 4 captains they named for the steelers aren't even on the team this year. Check it out for yourself : http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000 ... le=HP11_cp
