I think the team's philosophy is to have a stable of backs that all fit the same mold so that minimal adjustments have to be made in the event of a substitution or injury.

Remember when Heyward destroyed Christian McCaffrey in pass protection last year? I do not think they are willing to take that risk with a smaller running back.
