    Wow.

Even worse than it sounded reading it back when I thought it was a joke.

So we short cut through tons of character development to fast forward to the end, continuity, logic, or consistency be damned. Then end on an hour and a half snoozefest?!?!

    whatever...

Oh, I'm not done by a long shot...

Why would Drogon destroy the throne and not, you know, kill the SOB who murdered his mom?!?!

Where the hell did he take her and why?

Why would the Unsullied (and Dothraki) even let Jon be imprisoned rather than kill him on the spot?!?!?!

Sansa: Nah, fam, I'm good. The North will stay independent. Every other Lord there: You mean that was an option?!?!?!

Why in seven hells do they even HAVE a Night's Watch anymore? The Wildings are friends now, and the Others (yes, the correct term for the Army of the Dead and White Walkers) are gone. (Yeah, I get that it was a cop out compromise to keep Jon from getting killed. But that brings up another point...)

Why the hell does Greyworm get a say in ANYTHING?!?! Thanks for your service against the dead, here's some land. Don't want it? Then bugger off!

Tyrion laid out the best explanation for Dany's turning Tyrant. Concise and logical. But as the saying goes, SHOW, DON'T TELL.

So Sam is Grand Maester now? By what merit??? He only earned 2 links!!! FFS...

Good to see Bronn is now Master of Coin. After all, who better to run the Kingdom's finances than a cutthroat sellsword upjumped to Lord who probably can't even read? (Not that I don't love Bronn)

So Jaime and Cersei died in a pile of rocks that barely even covered them, and was small enough they could have avoided them by taking 5 or 6 steps?!?! L O FLIPPING L

Why does Bran need a Master of Whispers? Isn't he pretty much an omnipresent surveillance machine now???

So a STARK is now King of Westeros, but the North won't kneel to him???

If his own sister won't kneel to him, why would or should anyone else? What had Bran done that makes him worthy to be king?

I don't think there's anyone happier tonight than Damon Lindelof. Everyone will forget what a cluster**** the last season of Lost was now.

    Dark musings:

Brandon admits he knew he'd be king. "Why else would I come here?" (or whatever the line was) So, follow me here. As the 3 eyed (Crow) Raven, Bran can see everything that has happened, is happening, and even deduce future events.

He does nothing to help the war against the dead other than being bait. BUT... he gave Arya the dagger she'd need to kill the Night King (at almost the exact spot she killed him to boot) even telling her she'd need it. He tells Jon - who apologized for not being there to save him - that he was exactly where he needed to be. Huh? Screaming at a dragon?!?! Ok, ok.. Jon was unwittingly distracting the dragon so Arya could get to the Godswood. I guess. It's as if they want to imply that Bran knew how it would all go before it even did.

The all knowing, all seeing Bran chose not to warn Dany of Euron's fleet setting up an ambush. The all knowing, all seeing Bran chose not to warn anyone about or stop Dany from decimating the populace of King's Landing.

It's almost as if Bran WANTED everything to play out as it did. Paving the way for him to be king. Millions of innocent lives? Small price to pay, I suppose. Is he even BRAN anymore? He pretty much said he wasn't many times. So... the ultimate villain is Bran?

Nah... D&D couldn't come up with anything like that except by accident. And they'd beat us over the head with it if they did. They just think this is a "happy ending."

Ray, I’ve got 2 only answers that make sense. For the other questions, I’ve got nothing....

    1. Why did Drogon do what he did? First, he knows that Jon is family, and didn’t want to kill his last remaining family member. Second, by melting the throne he said “if a Targaryen is never going to sit in it again, nobody will.” Or, if we posit that dragons are a lot smarter than animals we can say that Drogon saw the throne as a symbol of his mom’s descent, or (even deeper) a symbol of his family’s tendency toward madness... or even a symbol of human tyranny. Hmmm.... “Deep Thoughts, with Drogon Targaryen.” I don’t know.... of everything that happened, Drogon’s behavior at the end was one of the things that I found the least troubling.

    2. Why does Grey Worm have a say? Simple. He has a horkin big, and very battle hardened, army.

The rest of the episode was like the writers just #$&*ing with all of the fans. To me the season started to rapidly degenerate when the Night King turned out to be Sauron.... or the Death Star.... one little vulnerability and poof.

Absolutely horrible writing. Like I had said earlier, I totally get Dany becoming the big villain, but it was rushed and sloppy. The rest was just fricking terrible.

    I just don't know....

Just a terrible waste of what could have been an epic franchise. I'm convinced that if they had shot 3 or 4 more episodes, this would have went from a 3/10 to a 7/10. It left me confused and disappointed.

I had a whole list of complaints and atrocities committed typed out but just deleted it. It was just making me upset. I'll hang my hopes on GRRM staying off the bigmacs long enough to get the books out.

I feel like I've gone my whole life without having made love to a woman. The woman of my dreams comes along and it's love at first sight. She's old fashioned, and insists that we wait until marriage. Months of courting go by, and the anticipation continues to build. The wedding date keeps getting pushed back for reasons I can't explain, which only makes matters worse. I tell myself to be patient...'it will definitely be worth the wait'.

I pass the time by re-reading the dozens of love letters she's written to me over the years. The wedding night finally arrives. She looks stunning. I want to take my time, but for some reason she's in a rush to get it over with. Physically we're incompatible, and while I should feel mortified over how unenjoyable it is, I actually feel nothing. Time passes and we go our separate ways. I feel an annulment is imminent. There's a box of unopened letters I was saving, but I'm not sure reading them will do me any good at this point.

The BOOKS speculate that dragons may be even more intelligent than humans. Nowhere on the show is that ever postulated or even hinted. I get all that, but for the show's purposes, it's unexplained. I was hoping we'd get some surprise scene with Drogon as to why he carried Dany off. Like him flying back to the ruins of Valyria and dropping her in a nest of eggs or something. Maybe carrying her to Ashai where a Red Priest was waiting. Something.

That big honking army has already announced they're leaving. They were offered the richest kingdom as thanks and turned it down. They're not coming back. They have zero way to verify Jon will even be punished. Just dumb. And like I said, they wouldn't have arrested Jon in the first place. They would have killed him on the spot.

    I did warn you I wasn't done...

When Dany described how she thought the Iron Throne looked like and how that was a stupid image only a child who couldn't count would come up with, I immediately took that as a swipe at GRRM who has many times stated the Throne on the show doesn't look right.

I agree that the Unsullied or Dothraki should have killed John to fit their character arcs. No way Gray Worm or the Dothraki let him live. But hey, what’s a character arc worth these days? Not much apparently. Drogon I can make a case for, though it is admittedly based on the dragon intelligence discussed in the books. In the series theyrejust half animal, half Apache helicopter.

Sadly, the scene where Dany speaks to her “loyal subjects” amid ashy ruins would have been incredible had it been set up over time the way it should have been.

Am I off here, or was there no Night's Watch for Jon to be exiled to? I interpreted it as a hoax. Tormund Giantsbane was waiting with the Free Folk. They cut back and forth between Sansa and his "processions". Jon and his people then packed their things and headed north.

Correct. Or I agree anyway. However, Tormund already announced he was taking his people to the wall to wait out winter before going back north.

So why not have some sort of wink about it?

Instead have all of the characters act as if Jon is taking the Black as a matter of fact even as the Unsullied are leaving?

As it stands, either Jon is merely escorting the Wildings back north, or it looks like Jon just broke his vows... for the third time no less. Not that I have a problem with his finding peace living among the Freefolk. It was probably where he'd be happiest anyway.

Must have been one hell of a throwaway line. No one seems to remember it, and they never revisited it.

However, Dragon inteliigence is one explanation as to why Drogon always seemed to act appropriately without Dany's even needing commands. That, or as some have speculated with the books, the reason people of Valyrian descent can be dragon riders is that they're a specialized version of warg: dragon wargs. And if that was true, Dany's mind and soul goes into Drogon when she dies.

But the show decided wags were boring.. or something.

Me before watching: I hope they don't pull a Sopranos ending or the like.

I interpreted Jon's sentence to the Night Watch as a "wink wink" since there is no need for a night watch. He's now the new King beyond the wall.

Still a bit rushed, but had they had a 10 episode season last year to flesh things out more, this ^^ would have worked much better.

And they still have to explain how Dany goes from ruthless to enemies/those who deserve it, to killing anyone and everyone, innocents be damned. (As opposed to accepting innocents dying as collateral damage)

Also, Jon should be the one to kill Glover. Shades of grey and all that.
