Should Steelers go after Kyle Rudolf?

Let's face it our tight end situation is not the best I've ever seen. Kyle Rudolph is probably going to be released sooner or later before the start of the season. Many are speculating that the Patriots might trade a late round pick for him or Seattle possibly. But the problem is that he comes with a big salary cap hit of $7.62 million. If you wait till he's released then who knows how much you might end up paying. They could possibly trade a late round pick for him and then immediately extend him to drop this year's salary cap hit. I have to believe that Colbert is looking into this because they need the help at tight end.

Yes, the Steelers should make it happen. McDonald, Rudolph and Grimble with Gentry on the PS would be a formidable TE corps.

If the price is right absolutely. Though I think there is definitely potential with the group we have if the Vanimal can stay healthy.

I'd be all for it if the price is right. But, taking on that salary might be troublesome given our cap situation not sure if we could fit that cap hit in.

McDonald is a beast but him and Rudolph together is a great combo.

The health of McDonald always scares me. Last year he was healthy for most of it however. When he's healthy and fill good he's a stud.

Kyle/Vance would be awesome. Heavy tight end sets with a RB committee and telling Ben to chill equals success.

It's not going to happen. The price isn't going to be right.

I know Heinz is a pessimist, but how exactly is my last post optimistic? :hmm:

For a good deal, absolutely. I don't know how much he has left in the tank, but he'd be a quality backup to Vanimal.

The Steelers have like 4 million in cap space, they aren't trading for Rudolph and his 7 million salary .

I guess you didn't read the part about how they would have to extend him and restructure, to take down his cap hit for this year.

Maybe they could sign him part time... our TE corps would be awesome every other game

Over the Cap shows at 1.2M under at the moment which is about what they need for in season moves. If that is correct, then even a restructure of Rudolph they would have to make some other moves (cut or restructure another player). That said, I would love to see him and Vance together. Would be an awesome set.

Too costly and he is a starter in this league still. Steelers would have to run a lot more 2 TE sets to justify it, don't see that happening even without AB on the team anymore.

Yes, $1.2 million under, and I don’t think we’ve signed all of our draft picks yet. Something else is going to happen soon, and it probably won’t be adding talent. Expect a restructure, cut or extension that saves 2019 dollars.

Only when it is incredibly lazy like yours. Try actually posting something rather than clicking an emoji sarcastically next time. (This is assuming you didn't just hit the wrong emoji by accident and this is your lame way of covering it up. Either is certainly possible.)

Are you originally from New York or has this attitude been aquired after years of immersion in that culture.

Could be on to something here. The 3 people I mix it up with the most are Scribe, NYsteelerfan and steeldeal. We all have one thing in common :hmm:

I just have one questions Heinz, when you hit the optimistic emoji did you intend it to be delusional or not?

Sometimes I'll use optimistic emoji if somebody is going overboard with grandiose predictions...like 14-2, etc. There's a lot of that here.
