Next Year is going to be interesting to see how the Steelers handle their Free Agents.
Here are next years free agents:
    B.J. Finney
    Jerald Hawkins
    Xavier Grimble
    Javon Hargrave
    Bud Dupree
    Joe Haden
    Artie Burns
    Sean Davis
    Eli Rogers
    Matt Feiler
    Mike Hilton
    Brian Allen
    Ryan Shazier
    Tyler Matakevich
Not only that but Mark Barron, Chickillo, and Moncrief are all structured where they could be let go as well.
Vance Mcdonald has a Club Option as Well.

Alot of our secondary could be walking next year so hoping Terrell Edmunds, Layne, and Marcus Allen start showing something.
Not only that but they have to plan for the following year for TJ Watt,Heyward, Villanueva,, JUJU, Foster, and James Conner.
Obviously some of the players will want money the Steelers probably arent willing to give.
Who will the Steelers try to resign, who will they let walk. Who do you WANT them to resign and who do you WANT them to let go?

    Finney is a must,
    Hargrave is a must,
    Hilton is a want,
Hawkins is a nice to have,
Feiler is a nice to have,
Dirty Red is STs only money
Haden is a "if only team friendly"
Davis is a "on the fence depending on this year"

    Grimble,
    Dupree,
    Rogers,
Allen, are all let walk imo.

Shazier doesn't fit in any of these and Burns is a goner this year imo.

We'll have a ton of money. There's almost $50M alone between Haden, Bud, cap raises and what is being wasted this year.

I'd keep them all unless they want stupid money. Banner should be on the list as well.

I think Hargrave is #1 on that list. I was hoping that we’d be able to take care of business this offseason in a way that allowed us to lock him up now.

The dead money killed us this year from some of these lock up signings. We will have cash next year.

Actually we’re pretty strapped for next year as things currently stand compared to most teams. Ben counts $33.5 million vs. the 2020 cap. DeCastro, Heyward, Tuitt, Pouncey and Nelson all count more than $10 million. There are maybe 5-8 teams worse off than we are.

And Ben's contract takes up about half of that. Remember, when it appears we will have a ton of money..we never do. LOL

Well that is six important guys to have. We shouldn't have to break the bank on anyone on the list to have to sign. Haden, davis, hargraves will be the most expensive and if any want stupid money like I said we will move on. We can also sign these guys and actually pay less next year for them. The first year of the contracts can be adjusted. It pushes dead money down the road though.

Always remember folks, Steelers never like to pay big money on 3rd contracts.(reserved for franchise Qbs) So Joe Hayden
probably will not see one or will be disappointed and leave.

If he has another strong season, I really hope an agreement can be made.

Other than Antonio Brown who was counting towards the salary cap one way or the other the dead Space this year really isn’t that much.

Dupree should have been gone this year. I will be happy when he isn't taking up a roster spot.

Hargrave as long as it's not stupid money (see Dupree) I would like them to extend Haden this season. Keep Feiler, Finney and Hilton.

Gilbert, bostic, burnett. With AB it's 26.633 mil. And then the cost of 4 players to replace them.

Yeah about 5 million in Dead cap space. That’s peanuts in today’s NFL and I didn’t know we were talking about replacement costs.

    5 mil.?

Our top 10 players cost us around 110 mil. Ballpark. Add 26 mil. To that, so we are roughly at 136 million for 10 players. Plus about half a mil. For shazier, but we are still at 10 players. We are probably closer to 137 mil spent on 10 guys and we need 43 more plus 10 practice squad guys. Probably leaves us about 45 mil. To play with minus roughly 3 mil they keep for in season injury signings.

Basically 42 million now to spend on 43 others plus 10. To go a little farther, we have about 31 mil. tied up in the next 10 players. So now we have used 168 million on 20 players. This leaves us roughly 14 mil. for 33 players and 10 PS guys. Don't forget we have to sign a top 10 pick yet.

8 million more to sign our top 25 players not counting what the top 10 players will count.this puts us at 176 million for 11 defense 11 offense.and 3 STs starters not counting our top 10 player.

even if Bush counts about 2 mil. We are at 178 mil. With 28 players left to factor plus 10 PS guys If the cap is 182 mil, it doesn't leave much money so that dead money hurts bad.

Do you remember Alan Faneca ,Joey Porter negotiations? Steelers can only pay so much.
and it usually goes to players in their 2nd contract. Who knows though maybe Hayden will
settle for less than market value ?

My original point was forget about AB cause we were taking that cap hit whether he was on the team or not. Would you have felt better about it if we had kept AB and either sat him or played him and called that money salary instead of trading him and calling it dead cap space? And actually we saved about 1 million by trading him. If Johnson is his roster replacement it’s pretty much a wash. That leaves about 5 million more, which is peanuts in terms of dead cap space.

That cap but of AB wouldn't have all been for just this year though.
