Decastro PUP list question

There's been a lot of talk about leaving an open spot on the 53 man for Decastro. Maybe this ship has sailed, but couldn't we have just but Decastro on the PUP list for the 1st 6 weeks of the season. Then at that point they could check his progress and then either leave a spot on the 53- man open or put him on the IR. Anybody know????

Though I did just read that supposedly the NFLPA approved the new IR rule (along with moving the trade deadline to later in the season)...where you get to place 1 player on this new IR and they can come back during the season/etc but not count to the roster and all.

"Teams now will be allowed to re-activate one player from Reserve/Injured during the 2012 season, subject to certain restrictions."

"Only players with a "major injury" who are placed on Reserve/Injured after 4:00 p.m., New York time, on Tuesday, September 4, or thereafter during the season, will be eligible to be reactivated at a later time."

If this is true then this could be perfect for DD!

 

You are correct. I JUST saw it was approved and is essentially an 8 week IR. That's awesome news.
