I think he is a football player, but time will tell. I hope he is involved
and give's James Conner some much needed help. I hope this young
man will get at minimum 100 carries?

It would be nice to give Conner a breather, felt like last season he took virtually every carry.

It would be nice but it would require a change in philosophy that we haven't seen before in the handling of RBs. They stubbornly go against the direction the whole league is " trending " towards. I like Snell a lot and thought watching him he reminded me a lot of Bell in his running style. Shedding some weight will help his burst and speed, just like it did Bell amd Conner. His receiving skills I'm unsure of but that can be improved if he puts in the work. We need some changes in philosophy as a whole to get where we want to go....
A dominant rushing attack would play a major factor in that. IMO the best way to establish that is by committee.

This is a good sign 70/30 isn't gonna cut it. We lost the best WR in the game and his 15TDs. There's some uncertainty with how our WRs are gonna mesh and develop. It might take a little time so it will be nice to have a effective running game to go to. I like the DJ pick. Honestly I was for more of a size/ speed guy but it also makes sense to try and emulate the O somewhat by drafting DJ. He has many of the same qualities AB had.....especially very good route running. If the work ethic is close to the same it could be huge.

I seriously thought you were going to ask if he was a running back who would beat off defenders. :icon mrgreen:

Thought about it lol. It's interesting reading some of the respones on here and then seeing several tweets and headlines from the beat writers suggesting that a major shift in running back philosophy as to not running the wheels off anyone. My concern is getting any of these three enough carries to get into a flow. They aren't home run hitters like Barkley or Zeke who can have that one carry that goes 70 yards at any given moment. They need that tired and best down defense to start gouging big gains on the ground.

I agree somewhat and I wanted a change of pace back myself. The good thing is that they are basically similar backs who should prosper with the same blocking schemes. That would mean that the OL wouldn't have to adjust to a specific style. I do understand the concern about a rythm but at the same time the D will still be wearing down with the size of our backs. Which should help putting teams away. I'm happy with the supposed change in philosophy. Let's see if it's just lip service when the real games start.

Just watched some more tape on this guy and I think he's my favorite pick. I still think RB3 could have been had later in lieu some other options, but I am glad he's on the team.

Barkley didn't play in the SEC. Also, that's a hell of a high bar, to put him up there with the best player in last year's draft.

If this RB group can produce 1700 yds rushing 1000 yds receiving
this year I will be one happy camper.

That would be a step up. The Steelers were near the bottom of the NFL in rushing yards last season with 1,445. Only the Cardinals had fewer.By the way, 1,700 yards would have only placed them 21st in the league last season.

The Steelers need to run the ball more in 2019 and they need to be effective with it more consistently.

I'm optimistic regarding Snell's ability to produce as a runner. My concern is that he will be too much of a liability in the passing game. He needs to prove he can be a receiver and a pass blocker.

Conner and Snell could make a nice 1-2 punch at RB, with Samuels being the receiving RB.

I hope that the steelers will have a RB by committee for that they stay fresh during the games and for the whole season....As Conner would be my number 1 RB, after Samuel would be in the passing situation and Snell would be in the short yard situation.

I do not want to see the steelers use a single RB once again, it never worked!

UK fan here that watches every minute of every game. He was one of the best pass blocking RB’s in the SEC and maybe country. UK coaches bragged about his ability to do so many times and is a big reason why he got PT early on as a freshman. Hopefully it translates to the NFL. As for catching out of the backfield, it isn’t that he is bad. No RB we have had since Stoops has been coach has caught very many balls out of the backfield. Just not really a part of our offense. I bet Snell proves to be very capable of doing it for the Steelers.

Pass protection is usually the limiting factor. They have to protect Ben from blitzing players.

Couldn't agree more with this quote. This kid obviously demanded the ball at the end of the PSU game and refused to lose! He was nothing short of fantastic. This kid has "it" which means he has worked so hard to get where he is nothing is going to stop him from getting there. A great player on the field and obviously in the locker room.
