Just got in a few minutes ago. Did Broughton or Wise go. I'm not big on Buggs really. I think I read he has effort issues.

He will probably replace LT Walton if he can stick on the time.

There's no doubt life is going to be hard for him not playing next to Quinnen Williams.

I thought he was more of a 4th round guy so I'll take him in the 6th. Backup 3-4 DE and could even slide inside on passing downs if he shows he is capable.

    Going Civil War style.

LB Ulysees Gilbert. Another inside backer. Highly productive. Decent athlete.

Devin Bush era over already? :lolol:

In his prime I think he was 245-255.

Smith will have to get to at least 245. He played at 235 last year so just need 10 lbs of good muscle.

Sometimes they draft guys for special teams. Not every pick is about being an every down starter. Role players are important.

We sure are stockpiling LBs. I guess we are gonna be cutting two ILBs (Matakevich and Bostic) there is talk of moving Sutton there as well. Or are we drafting for the PS?

Isn’t Coney still available? Would have loved to have had him instead.

Ulysses Gilbert III is going to possibly be the beginning of the end for Tyler Matakevich. Guy can easily be a special teams demon year one. Has some seriously good production to match.

Long term?! Him and Bush Jr. could very well be our linebacking duo of the future! Gilbert is only 21 with room to grow. Plenty of time for him.

    Beginning to love this draft.

He may get a look inside but I think he stays outside. Be used as a pass rusher specialist and will be a core special teamer.

Don't know much on Gilbert. Will have to give him a look.

I know nothing about this kid. Just read an article about his choice to go to Akron, his football IQ, speed, special teams play. This is they type of 6th round pick I love to follow. With aging LB's, if this kid has it, and works hard he may be a heck of a find. If not, even good special teams play and decent spot relief are always welcome on a team.

I have a buddy who is a big ND fan and Coney was not a fan favorite at all. Too slow.

I see Gilbert was listed as running a 4.52

You don't draft for the practice squad, as there are no guarantees as they are not protected. You draft to fill needs and depth. These kids have every chance to bounce an underperforming vet. Those chances are minimal, but that is what competition is for. ILB has been a sore spot foe several years.

I like a lot of our picks I just hope they are comfortable and ready to release the vets standing in the way. I'll believe it when I see it....Two ILBs need to be cut and we only dressed 3 OLBs last year and with Sutton we currently have 6. If the plan is to move Sutton inside that's another ILB.

Ulysses Gilbert III reminds me of Marcus Allen from a year ago in terms of the overall plan. Short term, Gilbert III can contribute right away at special teams. Long term?! He could replace Vince Williams when that time comes should he have progressed by then.

I know you don't draft for PS but like I stated in another post.....are they prepared to make the tough decisions on a team that's desperate to win sooner than later

Sutton Smith could be the answer to the OLB role. As SteelCity stated, bulking up should be his absolute priority. He has the twitch and leverage you would want from a pass rusher. Just needs to add strength and expand his toolbox some.

I think they passed on a good player.

Edit: I should add, he dropped like a stone so maybe not!
