This reminds me of something a friend said to me when we were in our 20s. He was joining me at a bar that I had had good luck at all summer. Used to call them "meat markets". So, as we walked in, he asked, "Do you want to go ugly early? Or ugly late?" I said, "How about we don't go ugly at all!"
Some people get so used to past results that they can't imagine any other outcome...…….

It's crazy how varying the opinions are on this. I don't see this as a really tough schedule at all. I think it's the 14th ranked strengthen of schedule. lol

Strength of schedule doesnt mean much with teams improving over the off season, there are other factors that can negate strength of schedule, but for what it's worth here is the rankings:

The Steelers have never won in Foxborough during the Brady / Belichick era. The Patriots have the best home record since Robert Kraft bought the team, I believe. Can't see them losing this home opener, but stranger things have happened.

The Steelers typically do not play well in either the Mountain or Pacific time zones. They also typically play down to inferior opponents. Could they lose to the 49ers, Chargers and Cardinals? I think so.

The schedule itself does them no favors. 5 of the last 7, 3 of the last 4 on the road. Monday night game after a bye. Road Thursday night game followed by a road game.

9-7 could win the AFC North, so the Steelers have a chance.

Drafting impact players on defense will be essential.

The steelers beat the pats in foxburough in 2008, but that was against matt cassel but still they won a game there and they still lead the series 16 to 15, I have a feeling they will win again there this year, just a hunch but with the addition of new players on the pats they will not be as sharp as they have to be this time around.............

Best case scenario assuming 50/50 on the W/Ls: 13-3
Worst case scenario assuming all W/Ls are losses plus 2 dropped games we should have no business losing: 8-8

    Realistic expectation: 10-6 or 11-5

    Optimistic prediction: 12-4

We go 12-4 & are the team to beat in the AFC playoffs.

    Losses:
    @ Ravens
    @ Chokers
    Colts
    @ Steelers West (popcorns fault)

Contingent on Ben not getting hurt.

I think 10-6 will win the division, definitely 11-5.

12-4 would be amazing. It’s not a bad schedule at all so it’s possible if the Steelers are lucky with injuries.

I get the feeling that this season is either going to be really good or really bad. I don't think this will be a middle of the road season. The one thing I like is that we are not going to be the favorites (in the media) to win the division. They are going to pick the Browns to sound cool and trendy. I like that we wont be favorites because this team plays its worst football as the favorites and their best when they are the underdog.

Well I some of our devoted fans on this Steeler Forum have us losing our 1st regular season game against the Pats. Unbelievable, and it is only April. It ain't over till it is over. Quote from Yoggi.

I think the Steelers have started to figure some things out in playing the Patriots, in 2017 they should've won, damn you Jesse James . And they beat them last season.

I wouldn't put the Chargers in the same inferior group as 49ers and Cardinals, they were a playoff team last season.

They've improved there defensive game plan against them the last couple years.. That and the fact the pats start slow is the idiotic reason why I'm picking them to win there for the first time.. I wouldn't bet a cent on it tho

Steeler Slayer Gronk was a non-factor last year & we beat them solidly. No Gronk this year & I like our chances in cheaterland if we can contain their new RB. Brady won't be the one that beats us.

This is not a hard schedule at all......... If coach does his job and we come out with the its us against the world mentality and dont slip up against the bad teams they should do alright........

I'd like to do re-picks after the draft, though. We have quite a few picks to play with. A good draft could put us in a great position. AB was our only real lose, albeit a big one, but we could easily re-tool and get back on top of things.
