He must have to busy being treated humanly by the jets and worrying about the important things to him...making bad rap music and smoking banned nfl substances that lead to suspensions. good riddance.....he is one suspension away from year ban. ESPN article said he was 'noticeably absent from the launch party". All the drama he created by lying to the team and its players numerous times to milking every press outllok to try to save face after sitting out for LESS money.....idiot.

Bell is not 1 failed test away from a year long suspension. People need to stop spreading that myth. It's completely untrue. His next suspension would be 4 games, then the one after that would be a year. Bell made a bad financial decision, but he was never a bad teammate. I don't get all the hatred towards this guy. He showed up every week and did everything asked of him with no complaints.

Nobody in their right mind would want to show up and play when the other players have raided your locker and publicly insulted you. It really was a 2 way street. It started as a simple business matter. Bell should have either shown up week 1 or informed the team he wouldn't be here. That's on him 100%. However, once he didn't show up and the rest of the players started bashing him publicly, it created a situation where even if he wanted to come back, it would have been difficult to walk into that environment. That part is not on him.

In the end, it came down to money. He bet wrong, but it wasn't like he was a bad teammate

Yeah I agree to an extant. The problem I have with Bell was how he did not communicate his intentions. He left the Steelers hanging without any explanation of what was going on. All the Steelers and fan had was speculation and guessing.

So that's where he went wrong.

Obviously he is within his right to sit out a year. He was betting on himself and the market, and it didn't pan out as well in his favor if he'd of just taken the STeelers deal ultimately. It sucks for both sides ultimately in the end as he was a hell of a player, and the Steelers were going to give him a good contract (despite public opinion). I think all the Ben talk was just in part him looking to save face and join the slam Ben committee.

I have no qualms against Bell ultimately. He was a Steeler than gave it all on the field while he was here playing at an All Pro caliber level. There is really no denying that.

Pretty sure that his first suspension was for the trip with Blunt and then he received a 4 gm suspension for missing scheduled tests and challenged that and lost which would be strike 2 and hence why people say he is one failed test away from the year suspension.

He received a 4 game suspension, which was reduced to 3 games on appeal. As part of the appeal, Bell also stayed in the current stage of the substance abuse program, meaning that suspension never happened in terms of progressive discipline.

That was well documented at the time.

Not really, to be honest. Every article discussing his suspension mentions how he remains in the current stage of the drug program.

Wait now it's about trying to win a ring?

By not practicing with his new teammates?

That guy is so full of :poopy:

He cares nothing about a ring, he cares nothing about being honest, all he cares about is money and himself.

If he wanted a ring it was probably not a good idea to sign with the Jets. He could have signed with the Steelers where he would have received very fair compensation and had an outside chance of a SuperBowl. He chose to go to the highest bidder instead.

I’ve no problem with that but who does he think he is fooling with this BS

He is right about being forgotten in January. Jets most probably be forgotten by the end of October.

Bell lied to his teammates. He told them he'd be there. Then when they tried to ask him about it, he wouldn't respond. This was all before the crap with his locker. The entire mess is entirely on him and he was absolutely a bad teammate in 2018.

He didn't change his mind about showing up later in the season due to the locker thing. He did it because his clueless agent finally figured out that Bell didn't have to show up at all to keep the Steelers from tagging him again at the same number. The agent didn't understand the rule properly at first, which is why Bell left the door open.

I think that’s accurate. However, part of me wonders if he also started the season with visions of riding into a hero’s welcome later in the season to jump start a struggling offense, and pave the way to even more $$$. It may have been a combination of discovering that he didn’t have to play, and realizing that the team didn’t want or need him as badly as he expected.

Too bad. He may not have been a great teammate, but he was a hell of a player while he was chasing his payday.
