Matt Feilers Signs ERFA

This we knew would happen but it is an under the radar move, 645K is great for what could be our starting RT.

True, but I have a feeling the Steelers have been leaning toward Okorafor (sp?). He actually played pretty good last year. Good thing there appears to be options.

 

Okorafor started one game, and the Steelers had to alter their approach to cover for him. Feiler started 10 games and they were clearly more comfortable running the regular offense with him at right tackle. I assume he will head into camp as the likely starter, though I think the hope is that Okorafor will eventually be the guy.

I could certainly see a line of Villanueva, Feiler, Finney, DeCastro and Okorafor within a couple of years.

 

So why would you say he was a back up? If you go to the Steelers depth chart he is listed as the starter and he did start 10 games. I know many are high on Okorafor but Feilers has just as much a chance if not more.

The battle for the starting right tackle spot is setting up to be a serious showdown between Feiler, Jerald Hawkins, and Chuks Okorafor. Feiler started 10 games in 2018 in place of Marcus Gilbert and was tremendous. So good in fact, his play made Gilbert expendable via trade.

 

It will be a camp battle between him and Chuks for that spot. I don't have much faith in Hawkins winning it between him and Chucks. But maybe Hawkins comes in and makes me eat crow. I think Hawkins has an issue staying healthy.

 

Jerald Hawkins is starting to remind me of Senquez Golson a bit. Only difference is that Jerald actually played a game. Senquez did not at all.



I am with you regardless. Hope I am wrong on him as I do want to succeed. It is just difficult for me to believe he can with such little time.

 

Golson never even played in a pre-season game and that is hard to do.

 

I have managed to not see a single mock draft. They are actually pretty easy to avoid if you want to.
