I also wish him well & hope it's just a money grab. No one should have to live with the debilitating symptoms that accompany mental cognisance.

He's broke and needs money. He doesn't want to wait on tables the rest of his life.

Does anyone else see the irony in this? These guys get a free college education but if they don't make it in the NFL they only have the skills to wait tables, sell cars, or being an ast manager at McDonald's. You'd think that at least some of these guys would take advantage of the free education and learn something they could fall back on.

One has to wonder if it is truly about brain injury or about inability to make a go of an NFL career. Sometimes, I would love to be a fly on the wall in some of these lawsuits just because I'm morbidly curious (and a hot mess).

All the evidence suggests Sweed was struggling with mental issues. The faked injury was likely part of that.

He’s going to have a hard time proving his issues were due to hits in college, though. Just too hard to prove at this point, if ever, and add to that pervading views about mental health in sports in general.

What's annoying is that it's not like these people do not know this is a violent sport going into it. A couple million dollars for running and catching a football.

We all have choices in life, and this was theirs. Don't feel bad.

I think Limas Sweed will go down as a classic case of a young man who was not ready to move away from home. It's a scarey prospect for someone not prepared for life to move to a city where you don't know anyone, you know nothing about paying bills, finding a place to live, doing the things many of us take for granted when we leave high school and begin to be adults. Johnny Manzeil found that out too, they may scream your name in Texas but the rest of the world don't care about you.

If I had been that wide open in the 2008 AFC Championship game and dropped that passed. I think would of had mental illness the rest of my life too.

I'm still angry about using that timeout too when he laid on the ground like he died, when nothing was really wrong with him.

I'm still angry and we won the game and the Super Bowl.

But, I shall lay my anger aside and I hope he gets the help (or money) needs.

Well.... fortunately he didn't play enough or even endure a single hit in the NFL to go for their deep pockets.
