If you meant something else then you should have stated it more accurately. Instead of stating horse crap.

Actually we have to save around $8 million for the draft class. We will also want to have a few million clear entering the season for injury replacements during the year. I played around with permutations of a 2/12 contract for Barron, and they all brought us to less than $4 under the cap after also accounting for VW’s restructuring.

We’ve gone from good shape to cap strapped because of 1) allowing Bud’s 9.2 million to become fully guaranteed, and 2) not working out an extension with Ben yet. I’m guessing we’ll see some cuts, but maybe not until after the draft.

This. Plus he needs to stop being a pick machine.

Yeah wasn't sure how much the draft class cost I was using the 5 mil number as a rough guess. I agree this whole Dud thing is just bad. I don't care what anyone's opinion is on his play where I am mad is the number he is at 9.2 mil. Either should have signed him long term of let him walk, maybe this is the plan but imo it should have gotten done pre free agency as well as the Ben extension. Gotta have money to play and we are m=not in the game right now.......

If they did this I think I would give up on the NFL in total. You are waaaaaaay underestimating the value of a great QB, you simply don't win in the NFL with some guy named Joe at QB ..... unless it's Montana:smiley1:

Contract negotiations are based on stats also unless your name is Bud Dupree.

I don't get this. You say we have all this talent to win more but did you watch the defense the last few years? Talent? I can't remember how many posts I've read about the poor talent on the defense. Which is it?

I posted about this last season, fans just see the stars on offense, then go on and on about the team having all this talent. The defense is lacking talent, specifically playmakers.

There is some decent talent there. Plug a couple of holes and I think we could be fairly good in defense. Just my opinion. Definitely need playmakers in the backfield.

The D does need play makers for sure but he have a lot of talent on defense. Cam, Tuitt, Watt, Haden are all pretty darn good and when digger is out there he plays well. Many here don't feel Davis is any good and kinda have to give Edmunds a chance. Where I feel our problem is with this D is the scheme and play calling, I feel this has more to do with our lack of production than the talent. jmo

Scheme and play calling has nothing to do with the defense dropping ints, and the lack of splash plays, it's a lack of talent specifically playmakers.

They need a playmaking ILB and a versatile playmaking safety IMO.

I'm callilng Edmunds having a great year. I don't think he'll turn into Polamalu, but I do believe he will be a quality starter.

Didn't say scheme had anything to do with splash plays I think I did say we need playmakers back there. However what I was saying is this D has talent people act like the whole defense is garbage. My problem is the Scheme Tomlin/Butler wants to run don't put our guys in playmaker position. Heck half the time they are confused and leads to blown plays.

Yeah well when they have been in position, they still don't make the play, they led the league in dropped ints in 2018 .
