Only a few real camp battles left. Who do you cut, who do you keep?

*Derrick Williams or David Gilreath? Williams looked awesome last night in Buffalo. Gilreath looked cuttable.

    *Brandon Johnson vs Mortty Ivy

    *Robert Golden vs Damon Cromartie-Smith

To cut, or not to cut:

*Charlie Batch. Go into regular season with only two quarterbacks? Personally, I think you can cut Batch and he'll only be a phone call away if anything happened to Ben or Lefty.

IF they were to keep three qb's: Batch or Jerrod Johnson?

*Chris Scott: cut or keep? Looks like DeCastro's knee injury might save him a roster spot.

Both recvrs had their games.Golden might just make it over cromartie.Bj and Ivy both had their moments.Ben,batch,jerrod.Lefty looked good last night but Batch never let us down as a backup. If Batch was kept as a qb coach then I would say Ben,Lefty,Johnson.

This first set of cuts probably won't have too many of these position battle players in them...they will mainly be low 3rd/4th stringers. The real cuts come after the next game.

What's the situation with Practice Squad eligibility with these two?

I'd like to keep Ivy, but if he's PS-able, then Johnson is pretty much the better ILB. But if Johnson is another Foote - solid but unspectacular - then we already have one of those.

Golden and Cromartie-Smith look about equal, though gut says Golden.

Yeah cut Mundy...thats a smart move...not! And you can't just become an assistant coach and then go right back to playing. There are certain procedures/etc you have to go through (like retire/etc).

I laugh everytime I see one of these posts about making current or recently cut players a coach! So if we make CB a coach then do we let go of the QB coach we have know? I read the same nonsense about Ward and Farrior.

i'd keep johnson and ivy and cut foote. i'd keep golden and C-S and cut will allen. after the 3rd and 18 debacle last night that he gave up. no sense for a vet to play it that way and he's always hurt, and it saves us over a mil. dollars. not to mention foote saves 3 more mil..

scottie montgomery was an assistant wr coach here before he got the head job. so there is an opening. i think he's capable of teaching the young guys some technical points of the game as an assistant. hoke and the boys came back and helped out, and that goes a long way for some of these guys. these guys did do it at the highest level recently and we are getting younger at several spots. it can't hurt.

    We all know this.

I'm just saying, there're probably only about four or five decisions really left to make. Guys we might want to watch a little more closely in the Carolina game. All of the guys that were mentioned in the OP are most certainly going to be around for the Carolina game.

looks like an opening on the line will be available now that wasen't there before. so a little more is on the line in the next game amongst those guys.

they are looking for improvement in each game. guys that have put into practice what the coaches have taught them so far. those will be the guys that will stick. guys like beachum, that everyone wants cut because of one or two bad games, but he has improved every week so far. that is a guy you may want to keep around.

lee is a strong guy and i'd love to see them keep him on. he has potential, but beachum has that LT resume' that is a big plus.

Cut Mundy? I think not. He will be the starting safety in the season opener at Denver. He is set in stone. One name that has not been mentioned in this post is Will Allen. IMHO, I don't see his worth, what has he done lately? Why are the two young guys being mentioned, Golden & Cromartie-Smith as being cut? Allen is the one who should be cut and both of the young guys should stick. Can somebody tell me why Allen is still on the team. I know they would save a few dollars by letting him go and keeping the two young guys at rookie minimun saleries. Tomlin must like Allen, thats the only reason I can see why he is still on the team. I know the two rookies should be able to play special teams, can Allen?

They should get rid of Allen and keep the two young guys. Golden intercepted a pass in the Bills game. I have never seen Allen intercept a pass in his entire time on the team. So whats the deal?

Don't they generally only keep 4 saftey's on the 53 man?

If so my 4 are, Troy P. Clark, Mundy, and Robert Golden.
