With all of the garbage being thrown around his name lately, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Ben just unceremoniously walked away into retirement.

It also wouldn't shock me if it fueled his desire to win it all and shove it in their faces. I'd prefer the latter.

I'd prefer the latter too but he has to show it on the field and in his leadership skills.

Uhhh. No. Ben would never walk away from his last big contract.
And he will want a year, when he can say goodbye to the Steeler fans, whereever they play that year.

He's 3 and 5 in the playoffs and the team is out of control, a losing season will be the 3rd thing.

Rooney said they will deal with Tomlin’s contract latter in the off season. An extension “could” still come.

Yeah and those 3 are beating Miami and their backup QB in Pittsburgh, the Bungholes self destructing, and an Andy Reid team where we didn't score a TD.

In other words, Tomlin just really sucks.

Sub par coaching and underachieving players are to blame....

So frustrating when stats are constantly spewed. Stats mean nothing. They mean NOTHING. In this era even more.

If these players keep acting up to a detriment of the game with their gold teeth, chains, or whatever; people will simply stop watching the game.

I know of two people that have already abandoned it. moved on to college football and hockey. Funny not basketball lmao

I think it's the latter. This team is truly his now. Yeah he has other captains, but they all get along and have a good relationship.

So I am EXCITED, because I know Ben is a phenomenal QB, and he still has a lot of weapons on offense, even if he is starting to look like tin man out there lol. He's my man with 52 kids under him. lmao << doesn't sound good on multiple levels :roflmao:

So this from that link above:

Roethlisberger also has indicated he is willing to work with the Steelers, telling ESPN in July that it's important as a quarterback to leave money for others, such as center Maurkice Pouncey, his running mate who just signed a two-year, $22 million extension.

Well if this is the case why isn't a deal done, why did we pay the 5 mil bonus when we could of turned that into a signing bonus and it not count on the cap? I am afraid there will not be the "discout" we think we are gonna get and the words of wins being more import than money may not be as real as once said. This deal needs to get done asap so the Steelers have space and can get the parts we need.

It would be my guess that Ben continues to irked by the lack of discipline and toxic environment and he is going to wait to see if Rooney get's it headed in the right direction before he commits to much of anything.

Fix the cap problem by trading the last of the trio of egos, Ben. Grow a set and go with the youngster who proves himself in preseason, either Dobbs or Rudolph..

I think they are done signing FA's. Maybe Houston still but could probably do that without restructuring Ben. Don't think the market is very high for Houston because of age and injury history, he may be having trouble coming to grips with not getting the contract he hoped he would.

I don’t know... I played around with some numbers the other night, and when our rookie contracts are signed we’re going to be looking to make some further cost saving cuts. I can’t imagine a deal for Houston working without a nice cap hit reduction from Ben’s new deal or finding someone who wil trade for Bud, despite his $9 million now being fully guaranteed.

Moncrief’s numbers are finally public, and his 2019 cap charge is 3.25 million, which is larger than the 2019 savings for VW’s restructuring (which I would not have done BTW).

What do they have to play with as it stands right now? They can free up a little more by cutting Burnett.

If I get a chance, I’ll play with the numbers tonight. No full details on Barron yet, but enough info to guess on bonus/salary breakdown.

Right now without Barron and without the VW restructure we are at 4.1 mil of cap space. We know Barron is 2/12 but not sure how it will be set up but it will eat up most of what is left. Gotta save 5 mil for the draft class so we are in need of clearing up space to make any more moves. Extend Ben cut Burnett and Burns and we have a whole bunch more room.....

Yeah we saw Dobbs play last season against the Raiders, he couldn't move the offense, and he threw a duck that got intercepted .

The final score is a stat. It’s means something.

There appears to be a flaw in your logic.
