Anyone have any info on this, Ben was due a 5 mil roster bonus on Friday but I read he can push it off as him and the Steelers work out an extension and turn that into signing bonus. I have not heard crap was wondering if anyone else has. I know it the Houston thread there was talk we were gonna sign him after Ben's extension was announced and then today they announce the Barron signing so that didn't make sense. Thought/info????????

It probably happens next week, along with Burnett getting cut to free up some cap space.

Funny. However at his age he should consider it after every season.

I think it was a roster bonus, if it was due then he probably got it.

Yeah I think it's safe to say with the signing today Burnett is as good as gone.

Tomlin getting bounced would have lessened the horrific offseason. Unfortunately, the Steelers will not let him go until a couple years after Ben has retired.

I thought I read a while back that Ben and the Steelers are far apart on an extension. Any guesses on what they’ll agree on?

Now that Brown and Bell are gone, A smart business move would be to use his inflated value to this teams offense as leverage to cash in. I have mixed emotions about giving him a blockbuster contract on the back half of his career with lots of guaranteed $. Don’t get me wrong, I want them to work something out, but I don’t want Ben on a 4 year extension.

The CBA expires soon and its going to get ugly. I'm expecting a shortened 2021 season if any season at all. If there's no 2021 season Ben may very well decide that's the time to retire. This possibility (probability?) might be the hold up.

Ben has said winning more rings is more important but it don't look like any discount is coming...

Reports earlier this week suggested that Big Ben and the Steelers would possibly come to terms on an extension by this Friday, when Roethlisberger would be due a $5 million roster bonus if he still under his current contract.

Despite Big Ben and the Steelers' desire to get an extension done, there's apparently more negotiations that have to be done. At the start of the new league year, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that a source close to Roethlisberger said that they are not close to finalizing anything with regard to a contract extension.

Yes correct but there was reports that Ben could push it off a few days

Steelers have said their offseason priority no. 1 is extending/renegotiating a deal for Ben Roethlisberger. The two-time Super Bowl-winning QB is due a $5M roster bonus Friday. Expect the new deal to be done by then, so that bonus gets rolled into new signing bonus.

MT's contract usually gets extended 2 years before the old one expires. That hasn't happen this time around. He has 1 more season left after this one, if they suck again it'll be bye bye.

The Steelers have 9 or more wins for the past 4 seasons. There are only 3 other teams in the league who did that.

I understand being disappointed that the team didn't reach the playoffs, but that is a far cry from "sucking".

When people list win/loss records it makes me wonder if they actually watched the Steelers the last few years? Regardless of record, what the Steelers did with the talent they had over the last few years is a travesty!

Yeah, but the Steelers have to play Suggs and the Cardinals this year AT Arizona. Tomlin will have the Steelers ready for that one.

You should argue with the fans who rip on Colbert & Tomlin saying they can't draft or develop players, if you think they have an overabundance of talent compared to other teams.
