I hope they don't draft D.K. Metcalf. He seems like a one trick pony, as Mike Tomlin likes to say, runs the 9 route, that's it. They need a receiver who runs more of the route tree.

Nelson had 4 ints in 2018, when was the last time a Steelers CB had 4 ints in a season?

We needed a #2 CB. One rating had him 32 one 21? Since there are 32 teams with a #1, these are high rankings for a number 2. This team just got much better.

    More like in 1 quarter.

This guy is pretty good , i remember Marsha going after him and he did his job shutting the cheater down.

This is a lot of money for an average cb... not sure anyone in our front office knows what they are doing but Nelson is black and gold now so best of luck.

Better than burns, sensibaugh and sutton so yes it was worth it. I didn't think sensabaugh was terrible either.

Haden, nelson, sutton, allen, hilton, sensabaugh wouldn't be a bad group at all.

Not so sure I like the cap set up yeah we catch a break this season with only a 4 mil cap hit but the next 2 seasons he will count 10.75. I know we are looking at an extension for Ben could we be looking at an extension for Haden as well? Next year we have a ton of space like 80 mil(with lots of players unsigned) but that is without Ben on the books, so he will take a lot of the room.

Sign of the times. The cap is increasing every year, and thus so are player salaries. Here are some recent comparisons:

    Steven Nelson, PFF’s #33 corner, 3 years, $25.5 million, $7.5 million guaranteed

Justin Coleman PFF’s #58 corner just signed for 4 years, $36 million, $16 million guaranteed
Tavon Young, PFF’s #75 corner just resigned for 3 years, $25.8 million, $13 million guaranteed
Steven Alford, PFF’s #105 corner (30 years old) just signed for 3 years, $22.5 million, $8.95 million guaranteed

There are other examples of large contracts for average corners. The market is the market. If you need to add players at key positions via free agency, you have to pay what the market dictates. I think we did very, very well with this signing. There’s a lot to be puzzled about this offseason, but I think this deal is a pretty big positive.

I didn’t read about those other deals. You are right it’s hard for me to adjust to the rise in contracts for a #2 cb.

I only watched a couple of the nations games he was on and I just saw teams scoring 30+ on them every time through the air. Hopefully, he solidified our secondary.

On the face of it Nelson looks like a good signing, like others here I don’t know an awful lot about him but he is seemingly very dependable, at least according to chiefs fans. That said I don’t hear any of them lamenting his loss either.

He should be a big improvement and the contract looks like reasonable value.
It was a huge area of need and it’s great to have a solution locked down before the draft.

I think a lot of us me included are use to what we have paid in the past. I mean I use to pay .99 for chips, .99lb for burger, .99 per gallon of gas the list goes on....yeah I know I am old thanks for pointing that out ahead of time. My point is things go up and the NFL is no different, jmo

He is a good #2 CB, i think he was trying to do the #1 role there. Haden, nelson, sutton/hilton is a pretty good cornerback group. Our safeties arent great, arent bad either. should be an upgrade. anything minus burns is an upgrade imo
