Yeah I’m not feeling the Tate option. I like your Conley suggestion though.

I was just going to mention Conley and I saw your post. He’d be a good fit and seemingly more in line with what the Steelers traditionally do.

Tate isn’t really a good fit money or style wise.

Obviously we're not going to bring in anyone that can replace AB. The only way to mimic the effect he had on the field is to spread the ball around as others have obviously pointed out . The run/pass ratio from last year has to become much more even and Ben has to buy into that. With all this BS it could actually turn out to have a silver lining but that would require all of the coaches and players make the sacrifices needed. That includes preparation, schematics and execution between the lines, all improving. Is it possible our starters actually play some in the PS? There needs to be a all in ,go for broke mentality.

There needs to be a few pages taken from NEs approach and a few pages from their playbook and their style of offense as well....

Maybe John Brown could be a option, he's cheaper and faster than Tate. They could still draft a WR, I would rather spend FA money on defense.

Steelers are only interested in overpaying for players nobody else wants or bargain free agents.

I agree Juju isn't AB but have you been reading this board many people here think Juju is #1 worthy. Time will tell and I hope he is, he has been pretty good as our #2. I have very high hopes for Washington and I don't feel these other guys are bums. We had DHB, Hunter and Switzer catching passes I am hopeful guys like Thomas and Benjamin who has proved in the past could provide good production at the #3 & 4 spots. This draft is loaded at WR and it looks like we may be getting one early and Deebo is a stud.

I would rather sign Benjamin and draft Deebo and spend that money on LB or S than to spend that money on a 3rd WR in Tate. Ben is a veteran QB he know how to get the ball to the WR right?

I too am just a fan on a message board shooting ideas off other fans.........

Tate is going to get paid and there are plenty of teams that will pay. I would have no problem seeing him start opposite JuJu. Blast is right about Washington, i'm hoping to see him take the next step but I don't believe he is ready to start. Who cares about the money, they need experience and Tate would bring that and some.

Isn’t Golden Tate a slot receiver? Don’t we have a couple of capable ones in Switzer and Rogers? We need a guy who can stretch the field and catch the ball, unlike Hunter and Bey

Tate can play inside and out, JuJu lines up everywhere, that kind of versatility is good to have. Tate played most of 2016 on the outside and had 91 catches for 1007 yards. His yac is a big plus too and only .2 yards fewer than AB, 11.8 to 12. He also has 8 receptions of 20+ yards, 1 more than AB. Tomlin likes him a lot, so I'm hoping they make a push for him. Tomlin had this to say about him:

I would turn to the draft for a vertical guy.

I think you are spot on with the idea a big free agent pick-up and although that has not been the Steelers way in the past, there is much going on nowadays that is not traditional Steelers and this could be a way to bolster things for one last run with Ben.

Time to rebuild. Our reign with ben is over. Time to look forward to the future with a new era.

I never thought of ben as that QB who could carry a average to above average talent team to a ring like a manning, Rodgers, Brady, montana, Elway etc.... hes an all time great and hall of Famer but I've always had him a tier below those guys.

That's why I don't see us going anywhere. We've only went far in the playoffs with ben with transcendent talent around him. I saw all those other guys I mentioned go to conference championships and superbowls with average talent.

I only care about the Steelers franchise QB, he's good enough so they have a chance.
