Could eli move outside for us? Washington, juju, switzer, eli. Is that a good enough combo with McDonald and Samuel s? Is it better than we think?

Wondered the same thing yesterday actually. I think long term we need a bit more. Not a bad start or foundation.

Don't know if he can do it. Eli has almost no targets on the outside, especially over 10 yards. Think he is purely a slot guy.

Ben made some reference to Eli being a good/great slot receiver. I think I would leave well enough alone there.

Without former WR AB getting double teamed Ju Ju may not see the success he has been. So, no, we are not OK there without anyone else that is going to be a threat to the other team to game plan against. Washington is an unknown and could be the answer but we don't know that yet. If McDonald goes down for any length of time, we better start hoping our running game can move the chains. Now, do you spend a draft pick on another WR or use it on defense? We'll see what they do in a couple of months.

switzer has shown he can play the slot too. is eli vet enough (5th yr.) to help out on the outside if he and switzer are on the field together. that is more of my question i guess.

No Ely won't and can't go on the outside, too slow.

And I don't think that's JuJu strong point running deep routes to get open. I still need to see if Washington can get enough separation consistently on deep routes, didn't see enough last year although he does go up and fights for the ball better then Bryant did, but so far didn't get enough separation like Bryant did.

Washington is 5-11. Bryant was 6-4. Bryant got separation just by standing up.

Bryant is also significantly faster than Washington.

The receiving corps isn't terrible without Brown, but it is drastically weaker.

I see a similar situation to the linebacker spot evolving.

Bryant never replaced. = timmons never replaced.
AB replaced by Washington = Vince replacing shazier.

We need a field stretcher to help the other chain movers we have. I think we have enough with one good burner addition. Antoine weasley intrigue s me. I think he's a sleeper in this draft.

Doesn't have the able to get off the ball and beat press. Also is not that good of a route runner. Artie was strapping him in 1 on 1s in camp. That right there should tell you enough.

I'm curious why no one has brought up that he was on a one year deal and is a free agent along with Hunter and DHB. So he isn't on the team yet.

I don't think Eli can go outside. I just don't think he is physical enough for that personally.

I think it does tell you a little bit about the receiver (s) we might take in the draft. They need to be big X receivers. Guys who can run the whole route tree and be successful at all of them. Justin Hunter does NOT fit that mold. DHB does not fit that mold. Eli and Switzer can man the inside slot stuff, but we need 2 additional guys to put with Washington and JuJu in order to man the outside positions.

I expect a vet signing and a draft pick or 2 draft picks. I see this as a we took Mike Wallace, then the next year took Saunders and Brown type situation. We are going to add some youth to the position.
