Could be that PPF and Pro Football Reference has a different definition of what a TFL is.

PPF is: Defensive Stops - tackles that constitute a "loss" for the offense.

I know, I looked at that. Thats why I said PPF may have a different definition. According to their stats, he has 33 stops for the year and 137 career.

Every site that uses the official NFL stats (including PFR) has VW with 8. So we just need to find out how the NFL game statisticians define a TFL.
(I mean that literally. I cannot find how they define a TFL. Is it only running plays, or does it include sacks?)

Blast, there’s zero chance that VW has 137 career TFLs. Where are you getting that info?

Pro Football Focus. Its defensive stops but by their definition its what constitutes as a loss for the offense.

Im thinking everyone else is probably going by tackles in the backfield.

Yeah, it’s a PFF definition. A PFF “stop” isn’t a loss of yards. It’s when the offense fails to get at least 40% of the of the line to gain on 1st down, less than 50% on second down, and fails to convert on 3rd or 4th down. So that means tackling a guy for a gain of 3 yards on 1st and 10 is a “stop” because the offense only picked up 30% of the line to gain.

A TFL is a tackle for a loss of yardage.

I’m thinking any trade including Brown should include his pro-rated signing bonus of $7.6mm, or AB should have to pay it back.

This is all the more reason why paying Bell a big upfront chunk would be a bad idea.

I’m pretty certain that NFL cap rules won’t allow the team to transfer any of his prorated bonus dollars for cap purposes. I also doubt that the team has a claim under the CBA to push for a payback of bonus dollars. I don’t even think it’s worth trying to negotiate that with zero leverage.

Agree on Bell. I don’t want him back at all, never mind giving him a lot of up front guaranteed dollars.
