Voted no. Think our offense needs the deep threat that Wallace provides. I know pre-season isn't really a good measure of what to expect, but what I've seen so far has been the Eagles and Colts double teaming Brown and teeing off at the line of scrimmage. With Jones-Drew, thats what they'll keep doing. With Wallace on the field, they won't. Which will open up the running game even more.

But do we even need Wallace if we're gonna be a run first team? I'm not saying we don't... Just asking

My take is that if we have Pocket Hercules as a feature back, we can still exploit the opposing defense because they will bring in safety help to support the run and we can get big plays down the field. He's a beast as much if not more than Wallace IMO. If our offensive line is solid, wide receivers blocking down the field, we can do some real damage.

If we could sign him I'd say yes, but we can't, end of story.

We're a better team with wallace than without him. We can win without him and I feel with some time,by mid-season we can be a dominate team able to win it all. MJD is a special RB, not the greatest but very very good and he could really add a new dimension to our team. With him and our other RB we'll be just fine, dominate even and remember, we would still have Brown, Sanders, Miller and the vet Jerricho C.

    I voted yes.

We can sign him. It may not be likely but it's not impossible.

I didn't vote because I'm on the fence or it's a wash. Wallace takes the top off the defense and opens stuff up and good for quick strikes and splash plays. We have drafted two young run blocking maulers who will open huge lanes for the runner. Maybe that's by design and we don't exactly need a special RB like MJD if the line is good enough. But they aren't pass blockers as well as run blockers, so will they be able to keep Ben standing long enough for deep bombs to Wallace? Then how long does Wallace stay with the team and does he pull this stuff again in some other way. MJD seems to have his issues with management. types. Do we want to be part of the new high powered passing NFL or play a bruising power game the other defenses are not structuring for that could pay off in the late part of the season and playoffs when teams are gassed?

I'm so confused, I don't know what to think. I'll take them both or either. We are much less without them, that's for sure...

No way do I make that trade. First, Mendy is going to be back soon. Redman and Dwyer both look like they will be able to contribute this year. Batch and Rainey look like they should have roles. Wallace stretches the D and plugging him into the O will make Brown and Cotchery and ES even better. Brown right now gets the double teams, but when Wallace gets back you can't double both...you just can't. It would leave everyone else in single coverage. Rainey covered by a LB? Heath covered by a LB in single coverage? He would exploit them....badly.

Running is mostly about the trenches...if we control that we will have success with running the ball no matter who the RB is.

i would if it meant trading Mendenhall or Redman for a talented player in a position of need.

    I voted no.
It seems to me that in today's NFL WR's are more valuable than RB's.

Hells no. Not that he is a bad player, but the league isn't a running league anymore, he is appraoching 'old' for a running back and decent running backs are typically plentiful in the draft.

I voted no. He is arguably the best RB in the league but, I feel like Wallace would be of more use to us. Not to mention the span of an NFL RB isn't very long, especially one with his small stature. And then there's the whole money issue and it was settled in my mind.

I voted no this morning, but didn't have a chance to post. Not that a trade like this has any real likelihood of coming to fruition, but I wouldn't make the even trade for MW based on the value. I wouldn't necessarily be against a trade for MJD, but not straight up for Wallace.

We're not going to be a run first. We will be a run more than when BA was here though

I voted yes. MJD would add exactly what we need a #1 rb with mendy being a solid #2 when he returns. We would have the most balanced offense in the league and with appropriate playcalling we would be deadly.

Not to sound silly, but you think with Mendy going into free agency after this season he is staying around to be the #2 back here in Pittsburgh? He either is the #1, or he isn't here.

Hell no I wouldn't make this trade MJD is looking for a big new contract besides the NFL is a passing league rb's are a dime a dozen.
