Guaranteed money> overall money. The odds of an NFL player playing out his entire contract are fairly slim. You cant count money a guy may NEVER see.

You act like guys have career ending injuries all the time. They don't. AB blows up your argument. If Bell wasn't a doofus, he'd have made out like a bandit too.

I didnt say career ending injury. It's a multitude of factors but facts are the average NFL career is 3 years. Not only that but the NFL doesn't mandate fully guaranteed deals. That means at any point a team can cut there losses and possibly owe you nothing. That's why talking about the overall terms of a contract to calculate a guy as the highest paid is misleading. Odell got a year later 46 million more than AB FULLY GURANTEED. That means if they cut him an hour after they still owed him that. Julio got far more guranteed. EVEN BRANDIN COOKS got 55 million fully guaranteed. Mike Evan's, Hopkins, des, every single receiver that is top level got far more. Pitt doesnt pay high guarantees but yet this is by far other than hockey the most injury risked sport In the world. Players will definitely fight for fully guranteed contracts in the next CBA.

Average for the non stars and bench players maybe but not the upper enchelon. The stars getting these mega deals play out most of their contract. Maybe get cut with a year remaining which by then collected almost all of the contract plus whatever the guarantee was. That’s why I mentioned career ending injuries because that’s about the only reason they’d get cut early into the contract.

You started with a comparison to the Rams. Then you brought in other teams. That is changing the argument.

Correct but when I said something about the rams did I mention cap space or who was making what?

The QUATERBACKS making the big bucks see for the most part the majority of their contracts. If what you're saying is true why are several players holding out for big guarantees? Shouldn't matter if they will get it anyway right? Do you see NBA players holding out for contracts?

Well I'm pretty much resigned to the hope that this is indeed a hot seat year for Tomlin and we will get the best he has to offer from himself and the team. If he fails to answer the bell there will be no other option but to clean house. That's the only optimism I have going into next ear . It's all or nothing especially when NE ties us in SBs. Maybe ,just maybe that will be Rooneys wake up call......maybe.

    Rams have a chance.

    Great kicker
    Interior pressure
    Can run the ball
    Non turtling coach
    Dbs can catch int

Can handle being up in a game and down in a game.

    They have a decent chance.

Yeah, kind of surprised how people are writing them off. They are a better team than the Eagles were and NE is a lesser team than they were a season ago.

Belichek is going to game plan in such a way that he is going to make Goff beat them. The Patriots will have 8 or 9 guys in the box and Goff will have to figure out who is blitzing and who is in coverage. It will be interesting to see if Rams go 5-wide to help read the defense as the Steelers did.

Exactly. The NFL is a dangerous game. 1 play and it's over. Do you think shazier that night thought his career would be over?

The Chiefs were ranked 27th or worse in all the defensive rankings, the Steelers were ranked 6th in some rankings FWIW.

Couple things. One, as I already said, how often does that happen? Plenty of players like AB see the length of their contract played out and are well compensated.

Second, in the unfortunate case where a player does suffer a catastrophic injury, you think they should get paid for not earning it? NBA can take that risk because there is little chance a player has a career ending injury.

Window dressing. They sucked where it mattered most. Think they led the league in allowing game winning drives. See if I can dig up an article I was reading, several ugly stats like that one.
