He was a solid veteran safety when we signed him. There was no doubt he's a better safety then the guys we started all season and we moved him to a situational LB. Sure he had health issues but he also played in alot of games as a LB.

This report is like many others before. Lack of communication and an out of control locker room has lead to disgruntled players. You see this same stuff at work when there's bad management.

In defense of Morgan he's in the twilight of his career and most definitely would be a starter on alot of teams. (he should have been our starter) I'm sure he realizes he will rot on the bench if he stays in Pittsburgh. He wants to play and he wants a SB. Neither is happening on this team. Given how horrible our safety play has been it's a joke he wasn't given a chance to start at safety. Maybe we win one of those games and make the playoffs? The evidence is everywhere, Tomlin is not a good HC. This team was maybe the most talented team in NFL history to miss the playoffs...especially when you consider we were healthy all season.

The message has been sent to every player on the team... if you don't like it here just demand a trade, refuse to play, and you'll get your wish.

There is an article on the SteelersDepot that points out his injury problems this past year. The plan before the season began was for Burnett to be the starter, and Edmunds could develop his rookie year in a limited role as a dime backer. Everyone said so. Burnett's limited availability forced the team to switch roles.

Such a damn mess. Thanks for the incompetence, Art. The most frustrating part is it's not that hard to fix but that only happens once the cheerleader is gone.

Green Bay defense stunk with him, Steeler defense stunk with him.
    No big loss.

he knows he's not starting over davis or edmunds. his injury history makes him think this LB/SS position will cause to many injuries for himself and take him out of his safety role. he knows his window is closing and is injury prone, so go somewhere else that he can sit back and cover deep instead of mixing it up close to the LOS. bu bye. sign deone bucannon. :smiley1::cool:

Are you saying I posted something I know nothing about? How dare you! :smiley1:

I didn't really know his history I guess. Maybe he signed here cause he hated that Green Bay made him do that? Given the context of the circus currently going on, it doesn't look good fair or not.

Doesn't matter. It looks bad for signing any potential free agents. Might as well hang a Beware sign on the Steelers facilities.

Must be a B thing. Next Burns will want out. Boswell will probably be out against his choice.

The story is usually that Rod was asked to play safety and refused, which played a part in him leaving. Of course, he then went on to play safety for less money...

I don’t know if that story has been revised, but it’s certainly my memory of things.

Bell’s saga is nothing to do with the locker room, clearly. AB is clearly in a different world and the rumour is Burnett is getting cut anyway.

If an FA refuses to sign on those grounds it’s probably a good thing they don’t come here...

    Way to miss the point.
    He said everyone. Major exaggeration.

The starting right tackle missed more than half the season. His backup also missed a game, a loss, forcing the Steelers to start a rookie and focus their entire blocking scheme that day on helping him. Haden missed a game in which the secondary collapsed. The Pro Bowl running back missed a big stretch late in the season.

Almost forgot. The guy they signed to start at strong safety missed five games entirely and was limited for many others. Burnett had every opportunity to start for the Steelers. He couldn't stay healthy and eventually Edmunds took his job. The Steelers certainly have issues, but Burnett's lack of playing time was all on Burnett.

Burnett isn't good enough to have a say where he plays, if he wasn't injured all the time, he probably starts ahead of Edmunds. Good riddance to him, no big loss.

Changing positions was a key factor. IIRC, he played CB for a couple more seasons before changing.

Steelers blew that one but keeping FA's wasn't something they did back then. It is a testament to how well they drafted in those days, FA's left in droves and didn't miss a beat. It was literally next man up.

Really wish they could have kept Woodson though, should have been a Steeler for life.
