I'm listening to Trib Live Radio and they are saying according to a writer at the Beaver County Times, Mike Wallace is in Pittsburgh. They are speculating that he is either showing up today or he's staying at Ike's house. What do you guys think? :hmmm:

I think he's going to show up. He's has no choice, I think he just wanted to miss camp at Latrobe. I think he signs tender. Then we see how the rest of this drama unfolds.

Yup.. He is definitely going to be here because he really has very few options at this point and yes he probably did not want to be in camp to begin with.

It all comes down to him not wanting to be at camp. NFL vets don't like camp, they look for any excuse to miss it. Now he is gonna show p because he has no choice. He will have to deal with Tomlin who is not happy that he missed camp. If he is not in shape and didn't study his play book, he will be in the dog house.

Well he probably still wants Big Money,we still aren't going to give it to him.....Wallace was waiting on Teams to have WR problems IMO....I know Colbert said that we would not trade Wallace,I don't believe that at all...

I think we should trade him if he signs his Tender...No way will he get the type of contract from the Steeler's he is looking for..It has also became expected for guys to have bad years before they hit the open market..Teams expect guys to protect themselfs and not go all out...IMO I think that's what Wallace is going to do so no need in getting a half hearted season out of him and then nothing in return.....

I saw this earlier...I believe it was based on Mike Bires' tweet~

It would stand to reason that he is indeed back in the Burgh, as the heat of camp is over and there's just a couple preseason games left.

Well, it's not quite as exciting as an Elvis sighting in Pittsburgh but I'll take it :hehehe:

Ha! I've been checking everyday for a thread like this. I told my son that he would wait until they left Latrobe to report. I agree that part of the reason is that the players don't like camp and this is a good opportunity - maybe the only opportunity in his career - to take that time off. However, I also think that it may have something to do with the fans and the media. By reporting after they leave Latrobe, he is partially shielded from the media attention and certainly the fan reaction that would have accompanied an arrival in Latrobe.

I find it hard to believe it's the effort that camp demands that has been an issue. He was born in raised in the southern heat and supposedly has been keeping in shape in the awful Florida humidity up till now. Plus, asking for 50+ million dollars and not wanting to work with the rest of the teammates and players is like a nail in a negotiating coffin. I think if the coaches thought his work ethic was an issue he would have been traded.

On the other hand, I'm not sure what chip he thinks he was holding that would benefit a hold out this long either. I think all speculation that I have read up to this point is hypothetical and most likely false.

I don't care either. I just want the dude in camp and performing at a peak level. He changes everything....

I think you have that backwards, when it's contract time this is when they do go all out, so they can get the max. If they dog it then they're only hurting their own value. Look at how many players in either sport diapered after signing the big contract. That's their goal, to get the big contract then dog it.

if he does what you say, he will hurt his chances in FA if it comes to that. He won't get Larry Fitz money with a mediocre season. i expect them to flash the bigger money in his face and he will take it 2.75 mil compared to 5 mil.

Oh, I didn't use the word heat as in temperature. I meant heat as in intensity or activity stage.

Well, we know he couldn't join the team without coming to Pittsburgh first. Step one.

Not showing up in camp is quite popular among the most elite . I have no trouble at all believing Wallace stayed out of camp on purpose . Not because he does not have a work ethic but perhaps he thought wrongly he would benefit more from training outside of camp. Perhaps he does not want to risk injury in camp and preseason. Maybe his ego is so big that he does not believe he needs much practice to get up to speed. Nobody can answer these questions but Mike himself. It made absolutely no sense to me and he gained nothing from doing this in fact he may have done damage to his future with contracts . From a fan perspective he has at least in my eyes made me rethink just how good he really is. I never had Wallace pegged as a prima donna ( a vain or undisciplined person who finds it difficult to work under direction or as part of a team ) I will never see him in the same light again even though I understand his worth to us winning

He's coming in. I read the other day that if he reports now it gives him just enough time to be ready for week 1 of the season. :good:

@pwp, pass that nug over here.

Really? What elite players haven't shown up to MANDATORY camp in recent years? This is a serious question (not being a wise ass or confrontational) that I can't come up with unless we are talking about injuries or contracts (like Wallace). I agree he didn't do anything poitive for himself in any way, especially with the fan base, but that isn't the question. But, my opinion of a players personality, ethics and morals never corrupts my opinion of their abilities.

Prove in any statement where I'm not consistent on this? Go ahead I'll even let you paraphrase until I correct you if I think you are wrong. You think, I can't separate the two subjects?!?!?! Please. I think it's other people (you for ONE!) who can't separate on field stuff and off field actions. That's a mirror shining back at ya...

I actually thought you were joking. My apologies.

Sure, I'd love to spend the next couple hours digging through your posts. (that's sarcasm) I've got better things to do my friend, and if I didn't, I wouldn't care to. You've shown bias in your posts before. I don't believe you can separate it honestly since you asked, but what I think doesn't matter.

PS.-that's a pretty confrontational attitude you've got there. :good:

Not to quibble, but step one would have been packing his bags, or at the very least, getting in his car. Coming to town would have been like step three, or maybe even four.

He could have just run to town. Provided, of course, that town was in a straight line dead ahead of him.

(I don't think this about Wallace really)

According to Ed Bouchette, multiple sources are saying that Wallace will sign his tender after the team returns from the Bills game. ~

I was just standing my ground (or as you say, confrontational) because I thought you were calling into question a part of my character that I feel is very important to me. Consistency in my viewpoints on moral matters. I don't have one bit of a problem with someone questioning my opinion, ever. I believe in discourse and discussion and debate. I don't like it when it gets ugly though. It's come close in the Ben debates (really that is what we are talking about here, isn't it) but never crossed the line. It' has not in this thread either, IMO.

I guess I could see how a person might take my statement that that you placed the emoticon after as sarcasm, but that would only be so if I had ever said I can't stand Ben as a player, which I had to qualify a number of times that I feel the exact opposite of (even though another member doesn't take me at my word on that one. Weird). I love Ben the player. I never understand why that is such a tough hill for some people to climb.

Anyway, I didn't ask you to dig through a days worth of posts. I thought you might recall some comment I made to the contrary in your memory because of the emoticon. That's why I even conceded a paraphrase, so there wasn't a need for a direct quote from way back.

Fine, feel free to make blanket statements about my bias and inability to separate the player from the person without even an attempt at anything I wrote, but it just makes that position unfounded otherwise. I guess I just can't let it go by when people call into question my fandom and (seemingly simple) separation on these two versions of Ben whilst attempting to strengthen theirs at my expense. It just seems so irrational. I apologize as well for my part in turning the tone. :hello:
