C'Mon Antonio and all the rest of the hot doggers out there. Act like you been there before. Take a page out of Heath Millers book and go about your business. I wouild have benched Antonio right after he did that stunt.

Anybody else with me on this?

Can't wait til one of these gymnists blows out a knee trying to be cute. Stop it already , will ya?

There is no need for those kinds of flips into the end zone. You just look stupid and obviously there is always a risk of injury..

I like everything about Brown and its ok to get excited but OMG

I hate the flips into the end zone. Look at the MLB guys that get hurt during home plate celebrations.

When scoring a TD I think the player should do a cartwheel, whip out a sharpie and sign a cheeleaders breast while proposing marriage then bang his head into the wall, do back flips to the 50 yard line and then spike the ball at the other teams coach, run to the stands and grab a 5 year olds popcorn and dump it on an opposing players head. Then and only then he should swing round the horizontal crossbar 3 full rotations then dismount with 3 flips and two twists.

That will show them all who the better team is.

I agree...if you can't stick the landing, why even bother? Might as well just dive in head first or perhaps back peddle in while waving your arms back and forth then follow that up with a little dance then jump into your favorite lineman's arms so he can lift you up real high while you twirl the ball on your pointer finger. Oh wait, you can't use the ball as a prop...never mind.

Just one more reason for non-Steelers fans to hate the Steelers. Seems bush league to me. But then again, if I could pull it off, I might try it too!

Exactly. Even if I'd rather they act like Barry Sanders a bit more, I wouldn't want them missing playing time in the interest of "class".

I know this is a Steelers forum but I have a short little story from another NFL team about this. My dad is a Bills fan (Ugh!) He would tell me as a kid when Thurman Thomas was a rookie he did some kind of crazy celebration for his first TD. Marv Levy went nuts on him & told him never to do it again, act like you've been there before. For the rest of his career when he scored a TD, he handed the ball to the referee.

I coached inner city kids for awhile and a single flip is nothing compared to what these kids do

Going back to my post by coincidence I mentioned Barry Sanders. They were both the RB's for their college team. I forgot who it was, (maybe Oklahoma?) but they both must have learned it from their coach. That must have been one hell of a back field to watch. I never really watched college ball that much back then. Sanders I heard in an interview once say that he tried spiking the ball once, but didn't like how it felt. So, he went back to handing it to the officials.

I was miffed about the flip as well. But as far as the quote about "acting like you've been there" I think that is actually attributed to Walter Payton. But maybe I'm wrong. Either way I don't like to see guys flip in to the end zone like that. I don't mind celebrating. I kinda think it's funny when AB does that little dance. I think I heard him call it the "wiggle" once.

Did not like that stunt when I saw it...risk for injury...Antonio should focus on completing passes(which he incompleted a couple)...not performing stunts...celebrate yes...stunts no.

You know I really used to be of the opion or school of thought of, "Act like you have been there before." But lately I have changed my mind a bit. I remain a fan of people like Heath that, simply, hand the ball to the ref or set it down! However, these guys are under a lot of stress and pressure. A good receiver or running back gets into the end zone how many times in a year? It is an accomplishment to score a touchdown in the NFL and if these guys want to celebrate something that doesn't happen all that often I think I'm ok with that as long as it isn't disrespectful to the fans or the other team. And to be honest, have you ever watched the majority of the crowd when someone does celebrate...usually it is driving the crowd wild. I have yet to hear most of the fans boo or yell, "Act like you've been there before".

Good food for thought there, Jim. Spontaneous celebration is often fun to see - when it's like "I'm so happy that I/we've scored, I'm going to do a flip". Celebration that has obvoiusly been thought about beforehand, planned etc. is a bit harder to like, as it has that arrogance of "I was expecting to score, and for this occasion I will do this...". Unless it's particularly amusing. Which rules out anything Chad Johnson ever did.

I think basically I have nothing against a bit of a showy celebration, but I dislike it when the celebration doesn't match the context. My number one annoyance with Santonio (which was, to be fair, outwieghed by the play he did a few goes later) was on the famous Superbowl drive, when we're in hurry-up mode, he caught a pass for a first down then insisted on doing a little dance or somethng. When we're in hurry up. In the Superbowl. Context.
