I understand the Steelers need to emphasize the running game more, but why after 2 pre-season game it appears we are not throwing the ball as effectively over the middle?

is it because Wallace is not here? Or is because Haley does not want to show everything just yet?

any thoughts? or am I missing something?

I think it is a bit of both. Haley didn't want to show much. Look at the 3rd down play in the redzone after the blocked punt. Simple crossing routes with no WR options. In addition I don't think Heath has been targeted this pre-season and Sanders not much either. It seems everything is going to Brown. It wasn't until Johnson last night that any WR other than Brown caught a pass.

I think it is all vanilla. Haley is not showing much. I am glad to see that they are really committed to running the ball more. I love it. You can tell that they will be running the ball more. It is a good thing. But right now they are not showing much. I expect to see them opening it up a little more next week when the starters play most of the game. I also expect to see Wallace come in this week and sign his tender. When that happens they will turn it up to full throttle in practice in getting Wallace up to speed for week one. When the season starts at Denver, you will see a serious offensive machine with Redman, Dwyer, and Rainy puting in work. I see this offense scoring at least 30+ points a game. Can't wait. I also see the defense giving Payton Manning the blues in the opener!

i think they have to run it right now because the tackle spots can't block well enough in the passing game. they can run block however.

with the injuries to our RB's I would think to pass more... they're running to protect Ben, now they need to pass more to protect the few RB's that we have left
